I think it is very cool looking hotel, it did state it was renovated recently but you can’t tell it from bathrooms as radiator was leaking badly. Breakfast was nice but by the 9am mark they ran out of some items. Staff were lovely.

A treasure hotel worth staying in when traveling to Edinburgh! Located on a campus of the University of Edinburgh, at the foot of Arthur's Seat, the environment is elegant and quiet. The building itself is an ancient castle with a classical exterior and modern interior (with a lot of decorative paintings); there is a bus stop at the door, which is very convenient to Waverley Station, and it is not far to walk to the old town through the University of Edinburgh area
The room bedroom is not spacious, but two large suitcases can be placed for two people. The bathroom is very spacious and bright. Bathrobes, cloth slippers, makeup mirrors, and makeup removal mirrors are provided, which is a surprise
The breakfast room is very beautiful, the meals are rich and delicious, if you can eat, you can even order one of each, and there is a tea room where you can drink coffee and lemonade at any time, and provide fruits and shortbread
The service staff is friendly and thoughtful, and the business handling efficiency is also high

A very perfect hotel. It looks like an old house with a long history from the outside, but the interior is very tastefully decorated.
