THE GOOD Clean and tidy - the job the cleaners do can't be understated. A deep clean every day. Even made little patterns with my partners night clothes. General friendliness - all staff with wide smiles and always friendly. Although, we stayed away from the goldfishbowl night time drinking as my partner suffers with anxiety and preferred to use local cafes etc. Peacefulness - you're away from all the hussle + bustle of it all. No traffic and the only background noise was either birds, quiet chitchat and the daily 30 second dog bark whilst an excited local dog gets its dinner. Air conditioning - free and worked better than some I've paid for. Also worked with the door open, which was a huge bonus for reasons you'll see below. Snacks were decent. Bar drinks were 3 euros a pint, whether beer or pop (cheaper in other places but it's convenient) THE BAD Basic but nice enough breakfast. Main issue is that the ingredients never change. I accept a small selection each day, but the occasional change of cereal or change of jam, a different cheese or even a different fruit would be very welcome. We only bothered having 3 breakfasts out of 7, purely for fuel on a day we had a long trip out. THE UGLY We paid for the "deluxe room" and regret doing so for 2 reasons. (First is the main reason for the 3 stars) 1) The smell from the water from the sink/toilet was horrendous. The night we arrived, it was too late to do anything or go shopping so we went to the room and had a cup of tea/coffee. We had no choice but to use water from the tap. We figured that even if it's not as hygienic as UK water, it'll be fine once boiled. What we hadn't considered was the horrific sulphide smelling (rotten eggs) water - Usually a sign of water being stagnant and a blockage causing a bacterial build up - This made the toilet smell (without using it), the sink smell, and effectively the kettle smell. We believe that this may have been specific to our room/water tank as other guests didn't have it. (We're presuming the room hadn't been used for a while). We looked into making an official complaint and was advised to interact with the hotel first before contacting onthebeach properly. The frustrating part was the next day, we came back to the hotel after all day at the beach, instantly went to complain and Manish came up and the smell wasn't there (We think having a shower that morning may have dislodged something as the shower water was fine, yet toilet water still stinking) - He put some cleaning liquid in there anyway. We also went to the shop and bought hanging toilet fresheners. For a few days the smell went away, although occasionally got a small scent, but we covered it with perfume and some cleaning fluid the cleaners left. Each day the cleaners made the room smell nice too. Although once we opened the bathroom door the smell was still slightly lingering. Again, we sprayed perfume and we could just about cope with it. Thankfully the Aircon worked with the doo
