Tru by Hilton Santee

We had a room that faced I95. The truck noise was bad from about 10 pm to 1am then again about 4 am to 6 am.

Everything was as stated in ads. Customer service could improve. I think a customer in front of you takes precedence over a phone call. Desk clerk did not even acknowledge 2 people waiting. The phone customer should have been told the situation, other live customers waiting, and then given a choice for a call back or a possible few minutes hold. The desk clerk was polite and friendly enough just needs some etiquette training.

Breakfast excellent. Did not like having to go to lobby for coffee and no micro. Pet fee very high but they did reduce it when I complained. Very clean and modern

Our stay was great! It was so clean and the breakfast everyday was so good! The only thing semi negative to say is that we wished the room had a sofa or at least a big chair and ottoman. The only place to sit was the bed or a desk chair. That being said absolutely everything else was great!

The woman at the checkin acted like she didn’t care whether we were there! She greeted us with “checking in?” No “hello” “how are you?” Or even “hi”. Definitely the wrong person for that position. Plus she continued texted on her mobile while processing the checkin!

Great location just off the highway! And right next to restaurants! Greeted with a smile as soon as we walked in. Front area was clean and inviting...first impressions...very nice!

I had not tried a Tru before but it looked like an Aloft, which I enjoy tremendously. Tru is everything I expected and then some. Staff was great, rooms are spacious, everything is designed to meet a traveler's convenience and comfort needs. I will certainly make this a regular stop on my annual trip back from my Florida home and look for them when I'm traveling elsewhere.

I specifically booked this hotel because it was near a Tesla super charger, the reviews were great, and it cost “more” money than a few other hotels in the same area (sadly, assuming a bigger price tag would equal more value, like a Doubletree). After reading the reviews, I decided this was a cleaner, safer, choice than the cheaper alternatives. We pretty much live on the road for business, so I am accustomed to a cheaper yet clean/quality hotel brand. I had never stayed at a TRU hotel before, and I don’t think I will again. Not that there was anything wrong with it exactly, because it was clean. But honestly, for the price it was a very mediocre hotel. The bedding wasn’t great. The pillows weren’t great. Nothing stood out to justify the almost DOUBLE price tag of the hotel/motels I usually stay in. In fact, the breakfast was actually smaller with less options than other cheaper hotels. The pet fee was $75, when my usual pet friendly hotels charge $50 or free. It felt almost like a college dorm instead of comfortable place to stay. Stark. Bland. IKEA-esque. So, as a business traveler, I will continue to stay with other brands because I feel I get more for less. And this place was “less for more,” nothing bad to say besides the price tag for no bells and whistles.

We didn’t expect to stay in Santee out booking in Savannah had a pipe burst and our room booked through here was flooded. They couldn’t get us another Savannah hotel so we got On the road again . Tru in Santee was such a blessing!
