Amazing
GGrace WWMRiverRock Home is serene and wonderfully quiet, yet only about 1.5 km from the bustling tourist village of Mae Kampong.
Newly refurbished about 1-2 years ago. The siblings who run the homestay are incredibly kind and hospitable, and the sister is a good cook — her meals were some of highlights of our stay. You can have your meals or chill at the extended balcony platform.
The bedroom is spacious and comfortable, equipped with both air-conditioning and a fan. The bathroom is clean, with strong water pressure and thoughtful amenities including shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. Room amenities also include coffee-making facilities, a hair dryer, drinking water, bath towels, and a lounging mattress.
The bed is very comfortable, covered by mosquito netting, and there’s a traditional Thai triangle mat — perfect for lying down, relaxing, or reading a book. Entertainment-wise, there’s Netflix and several other TV channels available.
WiFi can be a little slow in the room, but this wasn’t an issue for us as we used an eSIM.
Do remember to bring insect repellent, as midges/sandflies are common near the streams in Mae Kampong.
We truly can’t express how much we enjoyed our stay here. It was peaceful, comfortable, and memorable. So glad we found this small piece of heaven! We hope to come back here on next trip.
RRaoul s.Unfortunately, definitely not worth the high price. Especially due to the staff: not unfriendly, but distant. You barely notice their presence... The processes don't seem very professional. And the supposedly great breakfast was a disaster.
Additionally, the staff had absolutely NO English skills. Yes, you're in Thailand, but at this price point and with the hotel catering to foreign and/or affluent tourists (or those aspiring to be), this is an absolute no-go. Around 100 Euros per night would be a more appropriate price, but definitely not over 200 Euros. Alternatively, something like complimentary full board would be expected.
GGuest UserOverall hotel atmosphere was good, nice architecture and gardening, small waterfalls around resort. Rooms has fully amenities but the deductible about cleanliness was outdoor tub was dirt but acceptable because of the outdoors particle. First water from tap, shower had brown color with particles but acceptable because the resort located with nature then water might be from ground before purification. Breakfast was so fresh with veggies and fruits, great taste of coffee and assorted breakfast type we can choose. It's not Breakfast parlor it was set to order which was well preps. Overall was great.
RRAAAYnote that there are 2 Chaiyapol Homestays so it’s good to check with them prior.
i booked a Standard Room (B2) via trip.com and thought the location - as per the map - was a 10mins walk from Mae Kampong Village. lugged myself + heavy backpack up hills to find out when i reached that the homestay was located at the village itself (great location, walking distance to all the shops but wish i knew earlier!)
apart from that, had an absolutely lovely stay. the young staff spoke english and was really helpful and nice. room is nice and clean. snacks + drinks are available for purchase in the room but tip: bring your own mama noodles for mookata! they sell one set for 350 baht which i enjoyed eating outside at the balcony
staff also asked if i would like to join the sunrise at Kew Fin + Mae Kampong Waterfall for 100baht/person; pick up at 5.30am. glad i went! it was beautiful. it gets chilly on top so you can also take the white “bed runner” in the room as a scarf
breakfast is included and is at a separate restaurant, just a couple minutes walk from the accom, located at the cafe At-Mae-Kampong. it was a buffet spread with healthy options. absolutely loved the congee! it’s so good, must try
overall had a very pleasant experience. definitely recommend! homestay location is great and value for money. good for a 2d1n trip. i booked shared transport via klook from chiang mai
BBayla VeredMorning Thanthong Chiang Mai is a charming retreat with clean and spacious rooms, ensuring a comfortable stay. The highlight is the serene river stream right in front of the hotel, creating a peaceful ambiance. The location is calm and quiet, perfect for relaxation, and the friendly staff enhance the overall experience. Its close proximity to Mae Kampong makes it an ideal base for exploring the area. A wonderful choice for nature lovers and those seeking tranquility.
LLucky NapaThe rooms feel like you're nestled deep within nature and the mountains. It's incredibly quiet and peaceful, perfect for a truly relaxing getaway. The food was delicious, and all the staff were wonderful.
GGuest UserThe hotel is in a very good location, convenient and easy to get around. The hotel itself is nice, with beautiful decor and a comfortable room. Breakfast is Thai-style, which is a lovely local touch. However, the rooms are not very soundproof, and you can hear noise from neighboring rooms, including music or conversations. Overall, it’s a pleasant stay with a great location and a nice atmosphere.
AAnonymous User”Our Stay at Nelamit”
”We recently enjoyed a wonderful stay at Nelamit. The room with its stunning view was a highlight, and the warm temperature provided by the heater was much appreciated. The receptionist was incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay.
While we thoroughly enjoyed our time, we did notice some minor areas for improvement. The dome could benefit from a deeper clean to address some minor fungal growth. Additionally, we believe the room rate should include complimentary soap for the bathtub, which would enhance the overall guest experience.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the owner for maintaining such a lovely property and for the dedication of their staff, particularly during both peak and off-season periods. We hope these suggestions will be considered for future guests.”
