Food a little disappointing at breakfast especially continental. Nice staff throughout hotel. Fabulous room and setting.

Had stayed here once previously when I was Best Man at a Wedding in 2003. Thought I would return with my wife as a treat for our upcoming anniversary. Have to say that overall it was a bit of a letdown. The greeting by the receptionist on our arrival was lukewarm at best and I advise she gets further training on how to greet paying guests. It was like we were inconveniencing her! We were given room 104 which as we were to find out was right down where the wedding of the day was going on which later on proved to be problematic as the music, incredibly loud, continued until midnight. They really should locate guests who are not part of the wedding at the other side of the hotel. It was ridiculous. The bar for normal residents is also located at the far end of the hotel and although there is a small bar located in the restaurant near the entrance you are not allowed to use that unless you are in the restaurant. The bar is poorly staffed and you can expect a wait of up to 10 minutes if no one is around. The evening meal was nice in the brasserie bar and the portion size was good. Checking out turned into a bit of a farce. I strongly advise you to get an itemized bill as they try to sneak on extra charges or 'forget' to apply agreed promotions. At no point were were we told that a £10 deposit for the room key would be put against our room and only after requesting for an itemized bill, after seeing it was much higher than we had accounted for, did we see this on there along with them 'forgetting' to take off £50 for the evening meal. Eventually this was corrected but I can only imagine how £10 deposit they have managed to pocket from unsuspecting guests. It's a nice little earner for them. For such a high end establishment their customer service on the reception is very, very poor. Would we return? Probably not.

Castle stay via a Red Letter Day gift. On arrival to the castle grounds spirits were high ! Excited to see what this hotel had to offer. We tied in with our stay the Land Rover driving experience which was fantastic. Unfortunately the overnight stay in the castle was very disappointing. In a nutshell once there, there is very little on offer for residential guests! No atmosphere within the castle, no grounds to explore without leaving the estate. This venue is obviously geared up for weddings and wedding guests only, who I can imagine would have an amazing experience - however, for those on a mini break away not so amazing. On arrival, after checking in and finding our way to the room up the stone staircase and spiral staircase which was fun, we found our room which was very tired and shabby, chipped furniture, tired bathroom. We were looking forward to finding a nice bar to sit and unwind before our evening meal in the 1851 restaurant. We were disappointed to find there wasn’t a bar open for residential guests - we were advised to go to the Brasserie to get a drink and take to the lounge area. The Brasserie was a very drab room, no windows, no views, lacking atmosphere - more like a cafe than a Brasserie. A couple was having afternoon tea - it was all very underwhelming, not where you would expect to have afternoon tea in a castle! We decided to leave the castle to find somewhere to relax, we found an awesome pub/hotel nearby called the Pheasant Inn. - highly recommended, beautiful pub/food with amazing views! Evening meal in the castle - On the plus side the 1851 restaurant was very nice and the food was good. A buffet style breakfast is also provided in this restaurant which was adequate.

My wife & myself spent our 47th Wedding Anniversary at Peckforton Castle. It exceeded my expectations by 100%. The castle is set in beautiful grounds. The Ladies on reception were superb .They changed our room to a superior room & the entire staff could not have done more to make our stay very memorable. The room was a good size, well equipped with a very comfortable bed, a very modern bathroom. We had dinner & breakfast in the 1851 Restaurant where the Service & the food were wonderful. I would highly recommend Peckforton Castle to anyone who wants to celebrate in style.

A HUGE thank you to the team at Peckforton for helping us to mark our 1 Year Wedding Anniversary this week - we honestly couldn't have wished for more. It was made so special for us at so many points... a room upgrade to Eaton which was beautiful, a happy anniversary platter upon arrival, a hand written card from the team, balloons on our dinner table and a complimentary starter. The wine cellar staff even remembered our wedding cocktail and re-made it for us as they had kept the ingredient list! We couldn't resist buying 6 bottles of the white wine we had on the wedding day to take home with us and share with family. Thank you again for making sure we were looked after so well!

Brilliant venue for a Wedding. We have just returned from a 2 night stay for sons wedding and it was amazing. We chose the executive room which was perfect for our needs , the bed was really comfortable so we had good sleep, room was spotless with dressing gowns and slippers, tea and coffee also bottled water. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly, always on hand if needed. The Hotel itself is so impressive. It’s perfect for photographs . Thank you to all at Peckforton for making my Son and now Daughter in Laws wedding a dream come true xxxx

We have stayed here several times over the last few years and always enjoyed it so lets start with some positives. The location is great for exploring the area and is visually pleasing when it comes into view after driving the long avenue leading to the hotel. The hotel/castle general areas and corridors are quite dark on entering, with the downstairs cellar bar particularly dark and gloomy, but it is after all a castle and you don't find many big windows in a castle ! Room (201) was clean, quite spacious, with a good rainfall shower, however the shower didn't have a hand held shower head which didn't please my wife. Not much in the way of natural light as only a small window which didn't open much for ventilation. We had to use the main and bedside lights at all times otherwise it was very gloomy. The food in the brasserie on both nights was as usual very good but not a great deal of choice for starters mains or dessert. Breakfast was very good on the first day, full English, could have done with being a little hotter though as its in buffet form things go cooler quicker. The continental on the second day was disappointing, cheese curled up and hard at the edges, obviously from the day before, salami and ham just ok, the fresh fruit yogurt and honey was good though. All the staff we interacted with were smiling pleasant and professional especially the young staff in the brasserie and on breakfast duty who were worth the 10% added service charge. One of the male housekeeping staff wouldn't hear of me going to reception for tea bags milk etc and insisted on him bringing them for me, great service. Here comes the downer, ..... On the second day we arrived back from Chester at 6pm and heard the speeches being made from a wedding party taking place in the Great Hall. (please be aware when booking that Peckforton is a wedding venue, if your room is anywhere near the wedding reception you won't get any peace and quiet until after midnight) We left the room for dinner in the Brasserie at 7pm and the music had already started and was deafening in the corridors around our room. We returned at 9:30pm and the music was as we expected still booming out. In the room with the door shut the sound was only marginally quieter!! Just after 10pm we had both had enough and I went to check if there were any doors I could shut to lesson the noise, unfortunately not. At 10:15pm I phoned and registered my annoyance with reception who informed me the music would stop at 11:pm, I told my wife who was now starting with a headache this and we thought we could just about put up with it for 45 more minutes. At 10:25 a knock at the door, the duty manager came to apologise and informed us the music wouldn't actually be stopping until midnight, two hours down another one and a half to go, wonderful !! To be fair, after agreeing that it was exceptionally loud and after me informing her that I had made a one minute voice recording of the racket we were being subjected to

Although the castle is great to look at and the rooms are reasonable. The 1851 restaurant was terrible, cold and poor food. Our food was returned and we then got an equally poor meal. From the photographs and the website I expected so much more. Would not recommend.

Stayed Easter Monday, room was shabby chic but very suitable for a castle. Nice big bathroom. We couldn't get in the brasserie so had to eat in the main restaurant. I'm not keen on fine dining as I'm usually still hungry after and I'm only petite. However my husband and I really enjoyed the experience as we can have burger and chips any day. 3 courses plus the amuse bouche and we were full rather than uncomfortably stuffed. We tried the cellar bar, had to wait 20 mins for staff and what a maze to find it although it was nice to tour the hotel. The only dissapointing thing for me was the breakfast which my husband enjoyed. I prefer a continental but choices were cereal, yoghurt, fruit and 1 piece of toast brought by the waiter. I overheard a waitress explain that due to the bank holiday they hadn't had a delivery. Dissapointed at a lack of croissants. There was also a nice uncut loaf but no toaster. I do recommend going but personally I prefer somewhere with a mini spa. We had a 25.00 dining allowance which we exceeded so paid an extra 50.00 for food, 5 beers and 2 cokes.
