We were working in the area and had visited Podul lui Dumnezeu (natural limestone bridge) but had not booked any accommodation. On finding the nearby 5-storey Conacu Boierului, we looked no further and were delighted they had two rooms spare (this was outside peak holiday time). The setting among wooded hills with views of churches was simply lovely. There is plenty of parking across the road from the hotel. We had a double and a twin-bedded room (single occupancy) and both were spacious and beautifully as well as thoughtfully decorated - indeed the whole hotel showed a restrained and tasteful approach that was extremely attractive. All facilities were modern and well-maintained and the rooms have individual names rather than numbers. Reception and service were friendly and excellent from the outset. We had eaten a full lunch elsewhere and so only had a light supper but all dishes and drinks (including elderflower cordial and tuica) were top-quality. The terrace with external bar was a superb place to unwind, with House Martins flying above. Next morning's breakfast was wonderful, the selection of meats, dips and cheeses, breads and jam first-rate and the made-to-order hot dishes really fresh and tasty. There was enough to fuel even the largest appetite for the whole day! By turning up unbooked at a relatively quiet time of year, we had somewhat lower rates than advertised (300 RON for the double, 250 RON for the single occupancy room) but the rates via standard booking sites were just a little higher. All in all, a real pleasure to be there and we determinied to stay again for longer for a holiday rather than a single night on a busy working schedule.
