Fairmont Royal Pavilion Barbados Resort

What a disaster from start to finish….our stay at the Fairmont Royal Pavilion in Barbados. I’ll begin with the positive….the beach. The beach itself is lovely with nice sand and blue, warm water. This is not a 5 star establishment. This is a property in desperate need of refurbishment. Everywhere we looked things were broken, moldy, etc. While trying to relax at the pool mid day, landscapers were working and making noise. The pool ran out of towels consistently, and service to get lunch was spotty at best. No luxuries like bottled water, cool towels, etc. It was more of a “serve yourself” type attitude during the duration of our stay. Palm Terrace was a 2 star dinner at a 5 star price. Underwhelming in offerings, and flavor. We went outside the property with our rental car and had magnificent meals elsewhere. Front desk staff downright rude. Unsightly A** machine in the middle of the lobby, No comfortable lobby nooks to relax, no games to play. Our room wasn’t made up when we went up at 3:45 pm to shower for a 5 pm sunset dinner at The Cliff. No fresh towels. I could go on and on about the disappoin**ents of this “resort”. There were just two employees that truly made our stay more bearable, always a pleasant smile, uplifting attitude and kindness. Special shout out to Hakeem, Restaurant Manager and Shane, who generally works the beach. Every employee should take a page from their book. They were professional, and tried to go above and beyond - they deserve praise, and a raise, from management!

We arrived 27 November for 10 days and write this on our last evening. Shared the same concerns as the review immediately below, but were not overly affected by the finishing of works. There appears to be an ongoing upgrade to the Fairmont, with the main restaurant and bar looking good for the improvements. Breakfast was perfect with good choice and a change in offering from day to day. We often ate in Holetown in the evening and JuJus during lunch so it wasn’t an issue as the Tabora kitchen was being finished. Most of the buildings and the entire grounds are immaculate. What set this hotel apart for us was the friendliness of staff. We were constantly greeted and the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and valued. Likewise the guests who reciprocate that which creates a good a**osphere around the hotel. Too many staff to mention but Michael by the beach and Anthony on maintenance were excellent, as were all the bar staff. Look forward to returning to Barbados and the Fairmont Royal Pavilion.

One of the best resorts I have stayed at. It was the epitome of luxury & high class service. As soon as we came off the plane, we were greeted by a representative from Fairmont. Who fast tracked us through customs & to collect our luggage. We had organised with them before our holiday for their transfer service. This was a smooth & efficient service. As we travelled with our baby, they provided a suitable car seat for him too. Upon arrival at the resort we were greeted by their friendly reception staff and a choice of refreshing drinks. The great service carried on upon check in as they had accommodated us by ensuring our room was right next to an elevator for our pram. The service throughout our stay was five star standard and beyond. They were very friendly, accommodating & always went out of their way for us. It was nice to also see the staff friendly with our baby, giving him lots of attention & keeping him entertained. The beach space is plentiful & stretches quite a long way across the resort. There was always a sunbed available both at the beach and pool area. They have a beach bar to quench your thirst during the long walks along the beach in the heat. The rooms themselves were comfortable, spacious & had all the usual touches of luxury you would expect from a five star resort. The view from our room (and all the rooms), facing out to the beach & sea, was incredible. We were able to watch the sunset every evening. The food at the resort was of a high standard too. The buffet breakfast was both delicious and varied. The Palm Terrace dinner we had was lovely & Taboras restaurant, by the pool & beach, also served up good food. A great perk of the resort was that a child under the age of 5 ate for free. Even room service! We felt this was a very nice touch as our baby felt more comfortable in the room during the evenings. The hotel offered free Yoga and Pilate sessions at the beach in the morning which my wife enjoyed. Overall I could not recommend Fairmont Royal Pavilon enough. The resort is fantastic, the service is impeccable & it really felt like a luxury 5 star stay. We will definitely be holidaying there again!

The amazing experience at Fairmont starts at the airport with the fast track where there is no wait to go through custom, what an amazing service! The property and the people are top notch. They all know exactly how to make you feel very welcomed and make sure you enjoy your vacation.

Fantastic location. Midsized resort that is on a beautiful beach. Food is very good. Staff very friendly. Great restaurants nearby. Loved Lonestar and Tides. Lime grove high end mall is nearby. Ryan at waterspout is very helpful. Nightly entertainment is very good.

Excellent rooms , relaxing stay with good food and drink options. Staff friendly but sometimes rather slow , particularly at breakfast. Most disappointing aspect was guests “ reserving” sunloungers and staff not controlling this even when left unused for several hours. Particularly strange as there are in fact plenty of beds if not blocked !

Just spent a week at the Royal Pavillion and was so happy we did. The staff greeted us warmly and were very attentive. The rooms with the ocean views were perfect. The grounds, although pretty look like they need a little updating as it looks like it hasn’t been painted in a few years. The breakfast area could be renovated as it is very hot while having breakfast and the area where food is served looks old. Overall we loved the Royal Pavillion and look forward to returning.

Hotel is the best location, literally 10 meters from room to the sea. Beach side restaurant on site is high quality, and the location is great to access high quality places locally. Rooms are immaculate, house keeping is on point and fresh. Linen perfect for a great nights sleep. All in all just perfect for a recharge in one of the most idyllic settings you will find.

This is the hotel I go to in my dreams. It’s simple, really. A low line of motel-style rooms all along the sea, with the water practically lapping at your door. It’s heaven. The rooms are small and difficult to live out of (tiniest fridge ever), but it’s worth it for the serenity of this location. Service is very good and attentive - you’ll get an ice bucket on the beach and you can stay put all day. The food is not amazing and more Bajan specialties cooked with soul would improve the experience. We recently stayed at a different property along this coast and I was reminded of why I love the Fairmont. I’m already dreaming of my next trip back.
