Booking was made through a third party (Lekkeslaap), even though the photos of the rooms were very misleading and needs to be updated, booking through Lekkeslaap was simple and efficient as always. The Guesthouse, however, never personally confirmed the booking, ignored the personal communication attempts made to organize special requests for a birthday, even the most simple request such as ensuring two twin beds and not 1 shared bed in the room was ignored, they definitely don't go the extra mile. Upon check in we struggled to get in at the gate as no one was attending the reception, they moved us to another room other than what was booked so we ended up in the noisey main house with a room that had a joined door with the next room that we could not lock, making the stay very odd and uncomfortable. It was never communicated that breakfast was included or service time of breakfast so we made alternative breakfast arrangements that could not be cancelled just to awkwardly find out the next morning upon check out that they already prepared food, wasting money. The rooms could do with an upgrade, kettle wasn't working, shower needed a deepclean, carpet in the room was filthy, we never received our clean towels as promised, fan was on the verge of giving in and room was extremely stuffy on arrival, once showed to our room the lady that did the check in walked into the room and closed the curtains and apologized for the akward view of the outdoor service passages, making us feel unwelcome, closed in and not sure if we are welcome in any other guest areas other than the stuffy room. The bedsheets were nice and clean, quality of pillows were great, and proximity to local amenities like menlyn and sun arena are really the only things that we found pleasant and convenient. There is something to work with here, but the service, communication and rooms could do with some attention and care. Overall very disappointed in our stay and a waste of our money. Sad to see establishments lose their pride and joy in inviting guests into their 'home away from home'.
