In the many upon many options there are for a simple overnight stay, I discovered this inn thinking it was going to be a great find: especially based on the photos and reviews that made it sound wonderful. I've stayed at inns before, and have loved my stays but this old house, even though the old part was not the issue, there is a difference between old and rustic and dirty and grind. In the room I stayed in, the carpet needed to be replaced; worn and dirty. Surrounding the rectangular looking carpet in the center of the room were wooded floors, which had layers of old dirt that seemed to have accumulated over years. The fire place, as nice as it was to have one there, and its surrounding area, evident once again were layers of old dirt and grind that felt as if they have never been cleaned before. As I walked around the room when I first arrived, I noticed white feathers on the carpet, and when I went to open one of the windows, though old and wooded, would not stay open. It was a warm day and evening and there is no control of AC for each individual room, so the evening was a bit warm and there was no air circulation from the windows themselves even when propped open. The screens in the windows, rusty-ish, stuck in place, metal edges sticking out, were stuck in place and hard to move down as the inn requests in their emails. At this point, I was there, and I knew I would not get my money back. When I retired for the evening, I noticed right away the mattress also needs replacing for it was caving inward on one of the sides. One thing which was also misleading in their advertisement, was their statement about live TV. There were no typical standard channels but rather the live TV available only a Roku stick; so if you are looking to watch anything current, or anything from a major network, you would need your own account to a streaming service. (Which they do mention but the Live TV is not what I was imaging.) Lastly I would state that the breakfast the inn raves about, was okay, nothing amazing as I was expecting. The price was super expensive for what I received and definitely not worth the money. Even if just $100, that would still be too much in my book for what you get. The innkeeper was nice but that alone would not merit another stay for me; just not worth the value I paid.

One of the most awesome bed and breakfast experiences to date. The pictures on the website do not do the place justice. Truly a must for any history fan, an immersion into history with modern plumbing and a breakfast to die for! Also the service was warming and delightful!

Excellent, personalized hospitality and the breakfast is to die for! There's a lovely great room with complimentary tea and wine--perfect for hanging out before or after you've explored the surrounding area. I have no reason to explore any other lodging options when I'm in this area!

The Inn is a lovely experience for anyone who appreciates history, outstanding breakfasts, peace and tranquility. This is our second time and like the first, exceeds all expectations. Lydia is the quintessential Innkeeper, attentive to all guest needs in every way possible. Perfectly located in-between Princeton and Lawrenceville. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in the area.

This place is fantastic - beautiful historic home, location and service. Lydia, the innkeeper, is an amazing cook and serves a choice of breakfasts with home made butter, jams, oatmeal, granola, quiches, etc. Also, beautiful walking nearby. A high recommendation!

We stayed here for one weekend and really enjoyed it. There is plenty to do in the area and it's close enough to the shore and other attractions. Such a lovely old home and Lydia, the Innkeeper, bends over backwards to ensure your stay is comfortable. The bed was soft and comfy, the room was old fashioned and cozy, the breakfast was delicious and the barn and backyard sitting spots were beautiful. We can't wait to go back.

We stayed here one night to attend a wedding in town and I was disappointed. The photos suggest more beautiful grounds and a much more special breakfast. In reality the grounds are pretty limited and not impressive. No real flowers or landscaping. We had one of the nicest rooms and it was fine but nothing amazing. And most sadly, the best breakfast item was a croissant sandwich served with two slices of tomatoes. So nothing that had to actually be cooked. No fruit other than a tiny bit of fruit in the very small yogurt parfait. The milk provided for my tea was sour. In other words, the main event that is highlighted on the website — the gourmet breakfast — was nothing special. Perhaps this was because the innkeeper was on vacation and we had a sub. I will say that Lydia the innkeeper let us checkin an hour early which we appreciated. In any event, it was a perfectly fine stay but I would not consider this a special destination.
