The hotel is dated in parts and our room was a little tired although it was a superior room we overlooked wasteland and nort a sunny sea view we expected. However, the room was clean and the public areas spacious The staff were friendly and reception efficient

Couple ages 62/56. One week all inclusive+ January 2024. First visit to this hotel, which was recommended by our travel agent. Weather here in January can be varied. We had 17-22 degrees during our week, with some cloud some days. Hotel does some things very very well, but could improve on some things. Check in was quick and we were pleasantly surprised when we were told our room had been upgraded to a suite. The entrance is very large and grand, but as it sits on a hill, reception is on the third floor. Once you get the layout worked out, navigating around the hotel is reasonably easy. Our suite consisted of a living room with tv ( massive), bedroom (massive) with TV and bed (both massive). A walk-in wardrobe off the living area and a spa bath with shower in the bathroom . Mini bar with beer, wine and soft drinks and spirits all topped up daily. All very clean and functional, but silly things like 1980s sliding doors and blackout curtains that jam just before they fully block the sunlight just take the shine off. All inclusive+, gets a few benefits. Exclusive lounge, area in restaurant, 1 visit to a la carte and a very impressive selection of wine and spirits and mixers. Very unusual to get fever tree tonic on all inclusive. The buffet food for us was the biggest let down. Food choices were what most buffets supply, but only just warm. Standing waiting for fresh supplies coming out is not how I want to spend meal times. The wine however was superb. Our night at the a La carte wasn't much better. Food a little warmer, but not a great choice. The prestige lounge was excellent. All the drinks you could ever want, plus sandwiches and snacks. Even a PlayStation and some PCs. To sum up, room..good. sleep quality..good. drinks .. very good. Entertainment... good. Food..poor. Spa...good. And , if you can afford it, go prestige..... You won't regret it if you enjoy a drink.

Just returned home after a 6 night stay, felt the need to write an honest review of the hotel. Firstly would like to point out this is our opinion and everyone has different standards. We travel a lot and always book a minimum of a 4* hotel so have a good experience of hotels throughout the world. The hotel itself upon arrival looked quite impressive, reception checked us quickly but certainly couldn’t call them friendly, also find it bizarre you need to pay for a safety deposit box and also leave a cash deposit for towels in this calibre of hotel? We didn’t have enough cash but were asked to take some from the machine before the towels would be provided. There is a charge to withdraw so please be aware of this. We were given vague directions to our room and 25 mins later found it, disappointed to look out of the balcony to see a skip, and realised we were in the block next door to the renovation work! We were advised of this but also advised Jet 2 customers would be placed away from the works! We also booked a pool view room but overlooked a road the front of the hotel? Reception advised hotel was full and didn’t have the rooms to be able to change is?? Next morning went for breakfast, ok selection, which we quickly realised was the best meal of the day! Restaurant is currently been renovated so this is open concept meaning there are birds flying around whilst you eat!! There are plastic owls used to scare them away but clearly not working as actually saw a bird picking at the cheese!! Also sitting at what appears to be plastic patio furniture which is very dated unless you’re a “prestige customer”. Sunbeds around the pool are plentiful but need a good clean, bird poo all over them, other hotels hose them daily etc. Morning being the only time of the day we saw cleaners, sweeping and removing glasses etc that had been left? We often took glasses back that were still left from the day before. Toilets at the side of the pool bar are very unclean and I actually told the staff at the bar on 3 days! Pool bar staff apart from a a member called Marta not the friendliest either, often waiting whilst they have a conversation before serving you. Lunch is at the same restaurant so same issues apply, pizza were the choice of my children but always cold and oily, a lot of the food is luke warm so very off putting, we lived on salad and bread at lunch. We were told the snack bar was open after lunch service had finished. Selection was awful, Ham slice in 2 pieces of bread, vegetable sandwich? Cold vegetable cream(soup I think) some sort of cake and a toaster machine to able to toast your sandwich, there was also a small fruit selection, apple, orange and kiwi. Evening meal was much the same and after the first evening, we then looked at the offerings daily and choose to eat out! In other hotels we have stayed in you can have a fresh pasta made for you, jacket potatoes with a filling selection etc but we found the food very bland that first evening. T

Booked this hotel on Jet2 last minute for a weeks stay and we had a wonderful time. Having came to Lanzarote last October to Seaside Los Jameos All inclusive we decided to try the Costa Calero and had just an amazing time. The food at breakfast lunch and dinner is all to a very high standard especially the lunch which is perhaps the best all inclusive lunch buffet I’ve ever eaten. The entertainment most nights was okay but special mention to the Guitar Legends who were fantastic. The animation team are fab and put on great activities throughout the day. The pools are all very large however can be slightly cold for some even in 33 degrees. The spa is also fantastic and well worth a visit with a free circuit for All Inclusive guests and unlimited access for AI Prestige guests. The Superior sea view room we had was fabulous with an amazing view of the Puerto Calero marina and sea. The hotels free courtesy bus is also a neat addition to Puerto del Carmen which is a great trip out along with the other excursions that this amazing island has to offer. Overall we had a great holiday and would recommend it to everybody. The staff are an absolute credit to the hotel who all work incredibly hard and we would definitely come back in a heartbeat.

We were looking for a cheap week away, so our expectations were not very high. However, even though the hotel, the drinks and the food were OK, it is the most bizarre place I have ever stayed. On arrival, they wanted a daily payment for the room safe, which is something I had never experienced before. Also, they wanted a ten euro deposit for the towels, which again is odd. Odder still, they wanted these payments IN CASH! I don’t know anyone that takes cash on holiday. They suggested that we took cash out of the cash machine onsite, which of course applied a further charge. On checkout, they gave us the cash back. I now have 30 euros in cash, (that cost me 3 euros to take out) which I cannot do anything with. If I change the euros back to GBP I’ll get charged again and receive a poor exchange rate. The whole thing is lamentable. The final nail in the coffin was that this hotel does not take AMEX. It’s probably the only place I’ve ever stayed at that doesn’t. I won’t be coming back, and I heartily discourage anyone else to visit.

A cracking hotel with excellent Premium All inclusive Package. We have stayed on Lanzarote a number of times and often visited Puerto Calero but this was the first time staying there. The hotel is on the bigger side but with excellent facilities, dining and rooms. We upgraded to the Premium AI as it offered daily use of the Spa and Heated Pool which in March was useful plus the ability to access just about all the premium drinks excluding French Champagne. At dinner you could choose wine by the bottle with multiple options. In the premium section for breakfast and dinner you had a more personal service incl the serving of coffee and fresh juice. I note some people have commented at food not always being hot but for the week we were there I can honestly say we never had a problem. Different choices each night at the buffet were great and all well cooked. One huge difference to many hotels here is the sheer number of sun beds and umbrellas. The hotel was really busy but still plenty of room for everyone without the need for reserving them although a few did still 😏 I have only 1 gripe which was that the bathroom drain smell in the toilet was an issue. It was reported to reception but they knew about it and it seems to be an issue at present. We had room 359 which otherwise was excellent with a nice big balcony and sea view. Would we come back, definitely.

Great location just 5 minute walk down a small hill to the marina. Loved our garden room, loads of space, storage and sitting areas. Good sized bathroom with a bath and shower although shower temperature was a bit difficult to keep at the same level but I prefer a bath so not too bothered. Bed was comfy and two pillows which I like. Air con only had two settings which is basically on or off so was easier in a morning to just sit with the door open instead as it was cooler. Might be very hot in summer but we were ok in March. Everywhere was very clean. Lots of sunbeds at all times of the day. Pools were too cold to swim in sadly unless you were really brave so most of the day there was no one in them. Spa pool was lovely for a warm swim. Staff in there were lovely and we enjoyed our visit. Hotel is nice and quiet. Mainly older people. Food was ok for most of the week. Nice the eggs are cooked freshly at breakfast not left standing. Great shuttle bus with a lovely driver. Most drinks were good. Would prefer a dedicated smoking area round one of the pools as some days we had to move due to people sitting close to our beds smoking all day, it's something we are not used to in the UK. The grounds are beautiful and very well kept. The barman in the ar by the main restaurant was very good and told us about the local.spirit, how its made etc and got.us to try it. Was interesting. Very impressed that on check out we were offered the opportunity to keep a card until we left so we could use the restaurant for lunch, we didn't need it as we were about to be picked up but the offer was brilliant. Overall I was very impressed with the hotel and am already thinking about returning later in the year.

We arrived back from Costa Calero last night after a week in the sun as a family aged between 2-65 years. Positives: • The hotel is very clean, the staff work hard taking care of the grounds and the general hotel. • The room was clean and spacious, the beds were very comfortable. • The animation team work hard to keep you entertained and get everyone involved! • The evening entertainment was good and suited to every age group. • Plenty of drink choices on offer • The area is nice with a lovely walk down to the port, lots of restaurants, bars, a supermarket, and a pharmacy. • We could the free shuttle bus to Puerto Del Carmen beach which was nice for a change of scenery. Not so good: • The main restaurant is being refurbished which meant meals were served at the pool restaurant. Breakfast was fine, plenty of choice and fresh. • Lunch was not such a nice experience; birds fly around the restaurant and as not all the food cabinets have working doors, so birds were landing in the food and eating it which is a little off putting to say the least! • Not a great deal of food choice for the kids – the food good repetitive and we ate out quite a few times. • More snack options would be a good addition – especially things kids could eat. I felt like the hotel missed a few ‘’special features’’ for a Luxe 4 star hotel, most hotels we have stayed in have welcome drinks (there was water at the start of the week then it vanished) also an option to eat A la carte would have been nice too. Other than the food we had a nice week and would say go! Just take some cash so you can enjoy the local restaurant.

Just back from CC, anther great holiday with our Irish friends. Hotel having a major refurbishment in the main dining area, also the rest of the rooms being upgraded, major funding going on which is great as the Hotel is 20 years old now and the management are obviously keep up with the times. The staff are being trained to multi task which again is forward thinking although those who cant speak any English shouldn't serve at the bars, gets lost in translation :):):) Also have to say that the majority of the staff are very interactive with the customers when given the opportunity which makes the holiday more personal. New Restaurant manger Jose feeling his way round, seems like a nice guy. We have put our faith in this hotel and whilst we have lost count how many time we have been here, we are booked 4 more holidays through to 2025. Can I find any faults, of course I can, but that is not what I go on holiday for, 2 weeks enjoying the sunshine with friends is why we are there. Must make mention of the Animation team, what a brilliant bunch of guys and girls, they work tirelessly to keep every one happy and do 2 shows a week on top of the daily activities. Times move on, changes are inevitable but we still keep returning and every time we make some new friends (see photos) and we will try to be there at the same time as them in the future. Keep up the good work Costa Calero and we will see you all in September after the summer here in the UK.
