This was a true treat to once again dine at Hacienda San Angel. We were here with our dear friends. You can’t even imagine from the street that paradise awaits you on the other side of these grand wood doors. This is a Mexican house that offers hotel rooms and an out of this world dining experience including a superb mariachi band where everyone participates in the singing. The service and food are exquisite and the view of Puerto Vallarta is incomparable. Put this on your list as a highlight of your stay! Btw, a brand new elevator was available and railings for steps were accessible.

This small hotel is a combination of separate houses into a seamless and beautiful location. There are three pools and lots of places to sit and relax. The food is absolutely delicious and we enjoyed our continental breakfast on our terrace each morning. We had dinner in the hotel’s restaurant, which is highly recommended for good reason - we had one of the best meals we’ve ever had in their restaurant. Thank you Luis for making our stay memorable.

An oasis hidden behind simple walls. We saw this place while out on a walk in old Puerto Vallarta and decided to give it a try if we ever returned. Very expensive so this was to be a once in a lifetime trip, but we now plan to return. The property is a work of art with no detail spared. The staff are very professional and eager to please. The room, pools, grounds are breathtaking to the extent that you could stay in all day. Makes other high end hotels look like unsophisticated in comparison.

A delightful small hotel in the best area to experience genuine Mexican culture. If you don’t want a high rise tourist hotel with no Mexican culture, this is a perfect place. Close to excellent restaurants, the best place to walk around, interesting shopping & a truly unique property. The staff were outstanding & the hacienda restaurant could not have been better. Lovely, comfortable rooms with great views. We could not imagine a better place to stay in Puerto Vallarta.

My meal was completely unacceptable. Cornish hen consisted of 2 legs and thighs and 2 wings. No breast at all. The meal was warm, not hot. We waited an hour between appetizers and main course. Four of the five at our table were not pleased with their meal. I should have sent the meal back but knew that doing so would have created a scene and a long delay in getting the meal I ordered.

Gorgeous old style Spanish Hacienda magical with views. Walking into the courtyards is an experience very authentic and the best is charming old world architecture. Very nice staff and small pools, gardens and hang out spots. My room was in the street side so it was noisy.

While I left my thoughts directly with the staff, and while I think this property is incredible, unique, and appealing in many ways, in light of all the accolades in other reviews this far, I thought it might be worthwhile to point out a few things for other potential guests to be aware of. If you are an aged person or have any sort of physical disability at all, be mindful that to leave this property it is near the top of a very steep hill. I would select a room on the ground level, too. Rooms adjacent to a pool area will be loud simply with guests conversations. If you're more of a morning person and like to get to bed earlier, the live music in the dining room didn't end early. It is a very old building filled with religious artifacts and art if that matters to you. I can't speak for all rooms, but our room had a very old mattress that was excruciatingly uncomfortable- for this reason alone I would not return for a stay as we both tossed and turned all night and got a horrible sleep. It was once a pillow top, but the pillow long ago deflated. If I were judging the hotel's value based on the atmosphere, beauty, upkeep and service alone, I would say it's fair. But the horrible mattress and terrible night's sleep (a hotel's ultimate job) was so bad that I couldn't bare to stay there another night. Given the prices of a stay, a quality mattress shouldn't be an issue.

We just completed our anniversary stay at HSA, Jan. 2024. We visited HSA in 2008 and vowed to return. It took us a little over 15 years, but we made it. The experience we had this week can’t be adequately explained in a simple post. Every aspect from the location, accommodations, food, and service exceeded every expectation. I don’t do this often, but it is deserving. I want to give a special recognition to Luis. He went above and beyond on ensuring that everything we needed was taken care of. Thank you Luis for the special attention and service that you provided to us during this special week. This level of service and care is not found within many hotels today. Luis, mucho gracias for all you did. Thank you HSA for an amazing week.

Excellente! My friends planned this trip and I stayed in three different rooms with my husband during the week. This review is for all the rooms, so you have more information when trying to book. Paula, the owner, cares so much for the place and this is obvious in all the details. This place is special and I'm so glad I could stay. What an experience. She took time out of her day to show me around to all the available rooms when I had to check out of Angels Dome. I had the choice of Milagros on the street side, or the Garden Suite over by the restaurant. Milagros: The best part about this suite is that it is very light with a terrace accessible with two doors that open to let the breeze in, and the bathroom is cute as can be with blue and white tile. It is the room below the famous Richard Burton suite. A few cons: not the quietest room with the church bell going often, and right above the office so you may hear some activity in the morning. Very pretty, though. Garden Suite: This was my favorite room and I hate to put that on the internet in case it might be booked next time! I initially didn't book this because I read in reviews that it was loud being so close to the restaurant. Since that feedback has come in, Paula has soundproofed it and put in double-paned doors that lead onto the veranda. The bathroom is nice and I thought it was great being in the other building. I was worried about restaurant sounds and the mariachi band that plays in the evening. No worries! The restaurant closes at 11 p.m. and all I could hear from the veranda were frogs after 11:15. For you night owls, don't worry about being woken up in the morning. They make breakfast in the other building. Yay. This would be the place I'll stay if I ever get the chance to come back. Angels Dome: A gorgeous space, as they all are, but we had an issue with the breeze rattling the French door next to the bed. I told Paula and she was all over it, getting maintenance to come. This was not the most romantic suite as the bathroom wall only goes 3/4 up to the ceiling. So if your partner has... issues... you will know. Also, the windows that face the bed from the hallway do not have a curtain, so it doesn't feel as private for some reason. I also noticed there was a bit of a tiny ant issue in one of the bathroom sinks. I never knock of points for stuff like that because the staff are so great at taking care of anything that I'm sure they would've fixed it had I mentioned it. We were checking out, so I forgot to tell them. The breakfast that is included is called a "continental" breakfast. But it's not like a Holiday Inn type buffet or something. It can be brought to your room with pastries, fresh OJ, a pot of coffee, silver utensils, and a fresh plate of fruit. It just feels like you get to have fancy room service every day. One of my most favorite things. The dogs: Three cute, tiny well-behaved pups work in the office with the bookkeeper sometimes. Another reviewer mentioned "do
