AWa Beach Hotel

What a beautiful peaceful place! Just spent three days and nights there and loved every moment. Rooms are amazing, great design and high end furnishing. Breakfast is just lovely and the beach is steps away and just beautiful! We swam, we snorkeled at punta uva arrecife and our final dinner was at aWa right on the beach. And we also saw multiple sloths :-) We will be back!

This is a review for the restaurant. The food was bland which is not atypical for the region unfortunately. The squid and octopus in the “seafood bucket” was very chewy , not in a good way. Lovely view. But the service was abysmal. A staff member talked loudly on speakerphone. Although there was only one other table occupied, things proceeded at a snails pace. After our waiter took our dessert order, much of the staff decided that would be a good time for a meeting and we had to flag a manager down 1/2 hour later for the dessert and the check

This is a truly lovely adult-only beach hotel. Small, intimate, wonderful attentive staff, good food and drinks, right on a terrific beach and less than a kilometre from Playa Punta Uva, undoubtedly the finest in Costa Rica and one of the nicest in the whole Caribbean (not white sugar sand, but makes up for that in terms of its beauty and warm crystal waters). Only hassle is the hotel shares access with the public beach and (especially on weekends) it can be difficult to negotiate the parked cars to get to the hotel. Very nice rooms, very clean. Great value.

I have emailed them twice for some information and to make reservation but have not received an answer. It is a shame, it looks like a nice place. But, there are other nice hotels on the Caribbean of Costa Rica I can spend my money.

We are not the only couple who has dreamed of a place to go where there’s a beautiful beach a few feet away, a small intimate, lovely hotel, outstanding personal service and incredibly comfortable modern rooms. Well.. we found it, finally!! This is an incredible brand new one-of-a-kind hotel. Amazing that it exists; it’s almost mythical in the sense of its location, its service the whole environment is just unbelievable. There are sloths on the trees, monkeys that come to visit, the sound of the ocean in the background mingling with all the birds. The breakfast buffet that’s included is unbelievable. The à la carte dinners are fantastic. You can have service on the beach, which is just a few feet away, you can have massages, or go for a walk on the beach. Whatever you want to do, you can do it here Don’t hesitate. This place will be booked years in advance as soon as more people are aware. And it’s a crazy bargain at the prices that are offered We are from Canada, and we will be back. This is the stuff of dreams. Well done!

The hotel and the entire AWA team exceeded our expectations. It really is as beautiful as in the hotel video, actually even more beautiful: a romantic place with style, located in paradise, in the middle of the jungle and yet right by the sea. Due to the small number of rooms, it was also a wonderfully personal atmosphere. The view from our suite was like a movie theater, the accompanying background noise of birds, howler monkeys and ocean surf was incomparable. The AWA team was always very attentive, friendly and unobtrusive. They live personal service as if it were innate to them. The breakfast buffet was lovingly prepared, always a helping hand at the side, the cocktails were delicious and the dinner was excellent. From the hotel it was perfect to explore the area by bike, especially the Ara Sanctuary location to save the green macauws was a highlight. A suggestion for improvement for the suite in the hotel would be a little more storage space (so that you don't have to use the beautiful bathtub for it :-) as well as a device on the terrace or in the large outdoor shower to hang up wet clothes. During the booking process I was still concerned that there was no pool, i have to say: it doesn't need one. awa has the perfect pool, namely the ocean, right next to the hotel, a pool might even disturb the wonderful jungle... all in all, a big THANK YOU to the entire AWA team! We will recommend this gem to all friends flying to costa rica for sure.

A great location (once you have found it...), perfect setting, great architecture, friendly and competent staff, a long beach without people - everything fantastic. The only thing that is not at the level is the food: Boring menu, small choice, quality of food medium - there's room for improvement!

Off the main road and on a dirt road down to the beach you come upon this rather modern upscale boutique hotel. It truly exceeded our expectations because of the price. Move this hotel to a touristy beach in Hawaii and it would be twice the price. The staff is very attentive and very friendly and bilingual for American tourists visiting. It has a beautiful beach with food and bar, service and lounge, chairs and tables as well as beautifully lit at night. Surrounded by jungle growth and a beautiful ocean. It’s only obstruction, if you wanna call it that, is a cluster of big bamboo. The restaurant serves delicious food and my go to lunch has been what they call power. It’s quinoa, avocado, lettuce, and other ingredients. I can’t think of right now. As they say a pictures with 1000 words and I have included a few pictures to help convey what a lovely place is.

A beautiful hotel, with an incredible beachfront location. The staff were all so attentive, the food and cocktails were delicious, and as for the room, it was the nicest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. We were in the new America suite with our own private pool, it was so great that we didn’t ever want to leave!
