It is the worst hotel in Quito.i booked it seven months before I go.i had in my account only 360 dollars and I needed these money for a trip to Italy.i wake up the day after the booking and I saw that they had precharged me all the amount of the accommodation,352$!!! they left me with 11 dollars!!!i got shocked.they started to ask me sorry it was a mistake of the receptionist that instead to charge one dollar in order to see if the card is active,he charged 352$ by a mistake!!!! and I had no money to go to Italy,!!! they are very unprofessional, rude and they only care how to cheat your money!!!! STAY AWAY FROM THE CASA SAN MARCO HOTEL.the people don't know what they are doing!! shame on them!
Response from Property: It is really unfortunate what you describe and the complications you had to deal with, however, the booking rate you reserved your room with us had a 100% prepayment condition. This is the reason we charged your credit card with the full amount at that point in time. We regret the miscommunication. We do our best to prevent this or any conflict. We will be happy to help you in the future

I cannot rate our stay here highly enough. The staff were kind and competent and took care of us like family. The breakfast and the coffee were delicious and the house, a colonial era mansion designed by a famous Ecuadorian architect, is unbelievably beautiful and is full of amazing art chosen carefully by its owner who is an art dealer herself. The owner, Myra, is a powerhouse, well known in Quito not only for her former gallery but for the radio station she founded. She not only knows everything about the city, the architecture, the churches, and the culture, she is also a wonderful person and we are blessed to have met her. Each room is unique and gorgeously furnished with some antique and some modern furniture. Our room had a breathtaking antique armoire. The bathrooms are very well done and modern with tiled waterfall showers and are immaculate. The property is exactly where you want to be in the colonial part of the city within walking distance of museums, churches, restaurants, and Independence Square.
Response from Property: Thank you very much for your comments and for your visit. We will love to have you back in our beautiful country.

OMG this is an amazing place. The owner of the building is a celebrity in Quito and owns a local catholic radio station which she has a show on every day. Mayra was so generous with her time showing us her beautiful house and then lending us her driver (Giovanni) to take us around Quito. The hotel is. Casa with only a few rooms. Ours was on the ground floor and was huge with antique furniture, several beds and an open plan bathroom. Casa San Marcos was originally larger but half the house was separated and is now a more modern hotel next door so you really feel the contrast. The staff - Santiago (front desk), Javier (our Guide), Clara (who did breakfast and all our washing) - were all wonderful. I was so lucky to stumble upon this place on ***********.
Response from Property: Thank you very much for your kind words. At Casa San Marcos Boutique Hotel, we work hard every day to provide to you the most amazing experiences and memories at our beautiful city. We will love to receive you again at our house.

This hotel was unbelievable! exquisite hotel, and the best staff ever, including our superhero, Daniel. The food was incredible. And the beds were so wonderful. Everything was perfect. I wouldn’t stay any place else in Quito.

Casa San Marcos is a stunning mansion in historic Quito just minutes from Plaza Grande. It is filled with art and antiques and almost feels like staying in a museum, though the staff encouraged us to make ourselves at home. A tour group even came through one day to see this special place. There are interesting things to look at everywhere. Some items are for sale but it is not pushed in any way. I came home with a stunning hand-embroidered pillow case/wall hanging made by a local artist that also reminds me of my stay there. The staff at the front desk were highly accommodating and helpful - Jess during the day and Daniel at night. Daniel made and served daily breakfasts; fresh fruit, rolls, and eggs to order, included with the room. They don't serve other meals regularly, but you can order ahead if you'd like to dine in. They made us a nice dinner for my husband's birthday and brought cake with candles and sang. They went out of their way to make it special. We stayed in room 6 with the amazing view of the Panecillo. The bed was very comfortable. There is wifi that worked best for us in the common areas rather than in our room. There is a small store across the street where one can buy bottled water and snacks, a cool cafe a couple doors down, and an upscale restaurant close by. Casa San Marcos is a welcoming place for travelers who want a unique experience in a historic venue.

Excellent service. Amazing Hotel and location. Best time we have had. My daughters and son loved the place. It is like leaving in the 1700 century. A museum come to life. Make sure you choose Hotel Casa San Marcos, hence there are several imitators, trying to be Hotels Casa San Marcos.

The hospitality at this hotel was fabulous. I would recommend it to anyone with or without kids. Thank you Casa San Marcos for a beautiful stay. The hotel provided recommendations for restaurants and places to visit which was very useful. Also the breakfasts were delicious, safe and a really fun way to start the day.

We booked 2 nights for 5 family members. The hotel is on a quiet street in the old city of Quito. We were told that it is a very dangerous city with lots of theft so naturally we were afraid. The hotel is very sweet and Cody. The bathrooms are not so good but everything is very clean.

Staff was great. Hotle is located easy walk to central part of town. Rooms were nice and comfortable. Two issues. One the transport to the airport set up by the hotel was a rip off. We were in a group of people and one paid for all and then another paid for all. Once we knew that we asked the driver for the difference of a double payment and a large tip. The driver lied and said I onoy got paid once. So he made out with 120 dollars when teh trip was to be 50 dollars. Secondly, we ate dinner and watched a dance at the hotel . Was told the dance would be 20 a person and dinner was 20 a person We were charged 30 for the dinner and 30 for the dance. The dinner was OK, but not worth 30 dollars a person. The dance was ok too but 30 dollars a person for 20 minutes?

We had two wonderful nights here , an exquisite hotel full of charm . The owner Mayra gave us great recommendations for dinner and even arranged a dance troupe one evening . Each room ( we were three couples) had unique decor and exuded the colonial history of Quito . We would definitely stay again !

We stayed at the gorgeous Casa San Marcos for a total of six nights. It is listed here as a bed-and-breakfast, and while it has more charm than any B&B I've ever seen, it also has all the amenities of a full-service hotel, all at a very reasonable price. We truly felt pampered. Santiago does it all -- front-desk clerk, bellhop, doorman, and amazing breakfast chef. He was always eager to help and we enjoyed talking with him. Rosa also provided excellent service. Sra. Mayra, the owner, is a true institution, and we were so grateful that she took the time to give us a tour of the building and share its history, which is also her family's history, and its art collection with us. We arrived to an upgraded room, which was given to us again on our second stay. There are a number of lovely common spaces in which to relax and perhaps enjoy a glass of wine. The breakfast room is beautiful and has a view of El Panecillo. Every morning we were treated to a fresh, multi-course breakfast, which was a wonderful way to start our days in this wonderful city. (I recommend the coca tea as an altitude adjustment aid.) The hotel also connected us with an excellent guide who became a friend. Just a few doors down is the Artifice Cafeteria, with great casual food, fresh juice, outstanding deserts, and friendly staff, where we would stop in most evenings. A little further down on the same block is La Purisima, an upscale and very cool restaurant with excellent service and interesting and delicious food. These are great resources since the rains can be heavy in the evenings! And if you are not a very heavy sleeper, I advise bringing earplugs, as Quito is quite noisy at night, mostly due to vehicles of all types having to rev hard to get up the hills (this hotel is on a relatively quiet, narrow street, but noise carries in the thin air from all directions).

Stayed in this lovely hotel January 2022. Sadly due to Covid, we were their only guests and it felt like we were visiting a wealthy Aunt. Wonderful breakfasts and the one dinner we had here was delicious. The proprietor, Mayra, is a Quito treasure whose family has lived here for generations and she is a walking encyclopedia of all things Quito. She literally invited the two of us for a walkabout the historic center (which is where her hotel is located) and we could not have asked for a better tour guide! What a wonderful, gracious, Grande Dame whose beautiful persona we were so very fortunate to experience- thank you Mayra for making our Quito experience so much more than we hoped it would be!

The location of the hotel was fabulous, in a quiet street close to bustling old town of Quito. The house is older and has a lot of great features and artwork , plus a beautiful space to relax after a day of adventure. The service is impeccable. Santiago and Mayra took fantastic care of us throughout our stay. They both went out of their way to make sure our stay was fantastic and all of our needs were taking care of. From leaving luggage behind for a few days on an adventure, to last minute washing of clothes, to delicious breakfast and dinner, and teas to make us feel at home. We also got a wonderful tour of the city by Mayra which was a fabulous way of enjoying our time and learning a lot about the history and different areas of old Quito. I would highly recommend this place, especially it's people Santiago and Mayra. Do yourself a favor and stay here.

A historical hotel, full of art, warm and cozy. Clean and beautiful decorated rooms. They give you a tour thru the hotel, I've returned twice, and always find something different. This time they had a folkloric show for the clients with a delicious dinner. All for US$30.00. The employees go out or their way to serve you.. I was at room 8, it is unique, great view . The owner gave us a walking tour thru the Historical Center.
