Hotel Galileo

An excellent 3 star experience. Comfortable and adequate room. Conveniently located a brisk 10 minute walk from the Termini. Breakfast was very good with an exceptional selection of breads, rolls, danish eggs, meats, cheeses, yogurt, cereals, coffee, tea etc. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Really mixed review - taxi driver initially warned us to pay attention in the area due to rough sleepers and people drinking, but with the hotel being so close to embassy’s, there were armed guards on the corner, so overall felt safe. We had to hand our room key to reception every time we went out, which we questioned, and were advised it was for safety reasons. We felt quite uneasy with this but did so anyway. There was a safe in the room, but this wasn’t secured to the wall so could be lifted out of the room if needed. The room was very basic, modern and smelt relatively clean. A very poorly lit room due to minimal windows. No mirrors in the room itself, but one in the bathroom. Good hot water, okay shower. This hotel was booked as a gift, and I wouldn’t personally book it again, but if you are happy with a very basic hotel, then I’m sure you’d have no problems.

Lovely staff, great location, breakfast as expected for a continental- meat, cheese, yoghurt, cereal, boiled egg, croissants and pastries, toast and rolls, juices and hot drinks. Room great and clean.

I unfortunately had quite a few issues with this hotel. Firstly the shower and hairdryer were falling apart. Secondly, on the final night of my stay I realised there was an ant infestation near/under my bed which is not the most enjoyable thing to discover. Thirdly, you have to leave your keys at the hotel if you go out. I didn't like this and would probably not have booked there if I knew this as anyone could have discovered my room number and got in by simply asking reception. Finally, and this might just be a confusion of culture, but I had put a 'do not disturb sign' on my door as during short stays I don't like my room being made up. This sign was not adhered to and the room was cleaned. I mentioned it to the receptionist who apologised but it still wasn't reassuring. Despite the above the staff were really friendly and helpful.

Great location, about 10 minute walk from Termini station. The room was clean, but mediocre with a terrible drains type smell from the sink in the bathroom. No plug so had to cover the plughole to stop the smell. Breakfast wasn't great. Everything was too sweet, and they ran out of bread for toast within half hour of breakfast starting. We met 2 different men on reception. One was really pleasant and helpful, the other not so much. Overall we were disappointed, particularly as we had paid to upgrade to this hotel.

The hotel was clean and in a good location, walkable from the railway station. The room as adequate, however breakfast was disappointing. There were no cereals or fruit available, which would normally be expected.
