The hotel itself was fine and in a good location and the staff pleasant. The restaurant, bar and breakfast room were welcoming and attractive. But, the room was a total let down. It was in the annex and was described as ‘en-suite’. The loo and shower were separate, which wouldn’t have been a problem. But, there was no heater in the loo and the weather was chilly at the time. Also the shower room was very small. The biggest let down however, was that the handbasin was actually in the bedroom. So you needed to come out of the loo to wash your hands ! None of the pictures that we had looked at for room 10 had shown the hand basin was in the bedroom. So for £156 per night it was poor value. The highlight of our three night stay however, was the fish & chip supper on Friday night.. it was outstanding.

Stayed here so we could explore Rye in the afternoon then return to the Oast House for dinner and drinks in the cozy bar. This was not possible as you have to be seated and ordered by 19.30 (too early for me) the reason for this shut off time is, the scruffy, inhospitable manager wants go home before 22.00 at the very latest, so he can save money on the bus…His words! You also need to let him know that you wish to eat by 17.30. When he leaves he shuts the bar. So on a Saturday night no bar after 21.30ish. I expressed my disbelief to the manager, he simply did not care, was just interested in getting away from the so called hotel. Bedroom very basic. Bed very hard. Terrible shower pressure. Bedroom/bathroom clean enough but bathroom tiles painted over and paint peeling away. Very shoddy bodge job. Breakfast not great so perhaps a blessing that we didn’t have dinner in the restaurant. Will definitely not return!

Called in for dinner as my partner was fascinated by Oast houses and wanted to visit. Meals were of excellent quality and very fresh, definitely not microwaved as some claim. Prices were in keeping with the area and value for money for the quality on offer. Staff were welcoming and friendly. The "Long Man: bitter was well kept and very drinkable. We returned for a second visit the next day, which proved an enjoyable end to our holiday. Hope to visit again soon.

Disappointing stay - ceiling light had long cobwebs trailing off it, radiators were full of dust, scratched and scuffed surfaces on shelving and bed frame. Food average and costs at least 20% more than the prices in the menu in the bedroom. All in all seems expensive for what is on offer.

This venue is located less than 1 mile from Rye centre which is walkable in just over 15 mins. We stayed in a garden view room which was en suite, clean and pleasant. The cooked breakfast was 'clean' ie not greasy and the staff lovely. There is an added bonus in that the venue is an Inn which has a small bar area which appears to get used by 'older' locals and as such I doubt that it gets rowdy at all. This is a good venue, well placed for Rye, if you want to keep your budget a bit tighter than some other local accomodations.

Our third visit. Very enjoyable and comfortable stays. Excellent meals and choice of menu. The staff are first class, efficient, helpful and very friendly, and that makes it special. Rooms comfortable and well-equipped. Restaurant intimate, makes for memorable meals. All round, this is simply a lovely and very special place in a good position for exploring locality.

A lovely little hotel close to Rye. We stayed in one of the round rooms and the bed was one of the most comfortable we've ever slept in. The bath in the room behind the screen might not be to everyone's taste but I liked it - if anything I'd move the TV so I could watch it in the bath! The DVDs available are a nice touch . The room was lovely and clean. We didn't eat there in the evening but had a few drinks in the bar and soon got in a conversation with one of the locals and it has a nice atmosphere The breakfast was really nice - a good size , freshly cooked to order and good quality. The staff were really friendly. I'd definitely recommend this hotel.

All the staff were friendly, helpful and clearly keen to ensure we enjoyed our stay. We thought the cooked breakfast was very good (non-greasy) and ample for our needs, We also ate in the Restaurant on the three evenings of our stay and again enjoyed the choice of dinner selected from both the standard and specials menus available - steak pie and liver & bacon recommended! We stayed in Room 4, one of the round Oust House rooms, which was delightfully quirky with a matching round bed. It was clean with rustic furnishings in keeping with the accommodation. The shower was not high pressure but perfectly adequate for our needs. Due to staff illness our room was not serviced on day 3 but fresh towels were supplied by Andy so not really a major issue. Given the time of year occupancy levels were extremely low so understandably the room heating was only turned on when we arrived. But, given the nature of the building, the room felt a little damp and subsequently suffered from high levels of condensation throughout our stay. Doubt if this would be a problem in other rooms not forming part of the Oust towers or during warmer times. This is a small Hotel and never the less well worth a visit,

We stayed for four nights in the garden room. It has its own small garden which was brilliant for our elderly dog. The room was large with separate shower and separate toilet. The room was clean and airy. Breakfasts were of a good quality although not massive but enough for us. Loved the pub in the evening. Our dog was made welcome and enjoyed all the fussing he got. Staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful.
