With the exception of the meal serving staff, I found a reluctance to be friendly. The meals were mediocre, frozen fish served with fish and chips, bacon in the morning tough. On the plus side, towels and sheets crisp and white and the Cropton Classic bitter was delicious. However, there are better places in the area to stay.

Having a pub with its own brewery as a neighbour (albeit temporarily as we stayed nearby!) was heaven - and far too convenient! I did just about work my way through their selection of beers and we ate both Sunday lunch (booking required!) and evening meals there - both good.

We wanted to stay over to make the most of the brewery tour and tasting. Opted for the tour/meal option and not disappointed. Food was great - beware large portions! Never had a yorkshire pudding wrap before. Room had character, was clean and comfy. Included toiletries and refreshment tray with usual tea/coffee and packets of biscuits.

Traditional pub with the nearby brewery's beer on sale. Also cropton brewery cider. It's quite a small pub, decorated in traditional pub style. it has a sheltered beer garden and a large family room downstairs, which I presume is used in summer. We didn't eat there, but the food service was very popular, so must be good.

Our daughter bought us an experience day for Christmas for this place. It included a tour of the brewery, a three course meal, bed and breakfast, beer samples along the way during the tour, and to take a gift pack including beer and glassware home with you. We arrived at 1pm and the tour was at 2pm. We couldn't have the room until after 2pm which wasn't a problem as we would do the tour first. Told the guy behind the bar what we were there for and he just said that the tour didn't start until 2 and did we want a drink while we waited. The same guy - Josh- did the tour and all we were told was how things worked. Didn't see anything working so weren't able to do any sample tasting along the way. We finally got taken up to our room at 4pm and Josh asked if we would like a table booking for our meal so we said 6pm. There wasn't any towels or soap/shower gel in the room, we had to ask for them. The towels were just dumped on the floor outside the room while we were downstairs eating. Still no shower gel. Went down just before 6 and no table booked and was just told "oh, you can sit there if you want or go into the other room". We were taken to another room, given a menu and we told them we eye on the experience day. That menu was taken off us and another smaller given to us. Next morning we opened the room door to go down for breakfast and the tiniest tube of shower gel was on the floor. Walked in for breakfast gave the woman our room number to be told that there wasn't a table for us!!. She went to a table which had crumbs on quickly brushed them onto the floor and then set the table for us. Didn't even wipe it. Tea pot was all stained and breakfast was dry. Went to check out and asked about the gift pack and glassware that we should get. The woman said to just take one of the gift packs out of the window so again I asked about the glassware. She took a glass from under the bar that they use for customers and said that was all they had. I didn't want a glass that others had used so told her to forget it. Not a very good experience and I wouldn't recommend the place to anyone.

I booked the Cropton Inn & Brewery trip as part of my husband’s Christmas present, and what a present it was. The Brewery trip was lead by Joel. He was knowledgeable, friendly and funny. He certainly knew his stuff. Joel took us through the history of the brewery and showed us how the modern equipment works. At the end of the tour we were all given samples and as mine was part of a gift package my husband was able to select three bottles of beer of his choice. The package also included a two course meal. The food was superb and the potions substantial! Having had a big lunch we thought we’d have a little sandwich for tea! As my husband said, he got more beef on his sandwich than most get on a roast dinner! Breakfast also needs a mention. I didn’t want a full English so asked if I could have eggs and bacon. If I’d expected two rashers of bacon I was very wrong! I must have had 6 rashers! The bacon was locally sourced and tasted good. Having booked to stay overnight we found ourselves in room 11 which is a beautiful little cottage in the grounds. It costs a little more than the rooms in the pub but well worth it. This Cropton Inn is a hidden gem, but obviously very popular with those who know of it! The staff are friendly and very helpful. We will be back. Very good value for money and a lovely weekend.

Great country pub and an excellent brewery. Exceptional real ales and craft beers. Hearty pub grub. Set in the amazing North Yorkshire countryside. We stayed for the night and did the brewery tour, highly recommend. Josh was very informative and quite humorous, made us all feel welcome.
