Gateway to the Breaks Motel

We drove up just after sunset, and the hotel was well-lit, lights strung up in outdoor areas. Easiest parking, and we walked into the office to check in — a lovely warm greeting from the desk clerk. We could see the security cameras on the tvs behind her in the office, it is clear that the whole property is monitored & very safe. It was a super fast check in, then up to our rooms. Mine was perfect, with towels on my bed and a couple of snacks & water set out for us on the counter. The tv is easy to link to my iPad, brochures on interesting activities in the area on the counter. Just a great set-up & great service. Friendly people. Full marks.

I almost hate to give this place a good review because I don’t want the secret to get out and become popular, but it would be a disservice not to. We came down for 2 nights for a concert in Pikeville, KY and to do some hiking nearby. The motel was an older building that is still being renovated, but is beautifully redone and well kept. The room was large and clean, the staff were so nice. The value for the price was amazing! We arrived early and they even let us check in 30 minutes early! The staff gave excellent recommendations for local food and outdoor fun. The outside of the property was beautiful as well and the fire pits were inviting. We will definitely be returning to the area and staying at the Gateway!

Loved the staff! But they were buY doing motel rezervations so was difficult to xontact them .we had a deatg in the family i rented 3 rooms and room number 112 had no ahower head so my fMily could not take a shower i went to the front office rang bell but nobody ever came so it was a huge inconvenience my family had to shower in my room 115 . I felt they rented us a room that was not ready! Like i said its under renovation!

Well I rented 3 rooms for me Nd my family as we had a death in the family so we needed aonethibg close. Staff was great so nice and friendly! Internet was put ( not hotels fault) but one of the rooms( 112) we rented did not have a shower head in the bathroom so my family members could not shower .I tried to talk to staff about getting some sort of discount for that HUGE incomveniance but I rang bell 3 different times and no one answered! So they just showered in my room (115) they have remodeled and the hotel is looking very nice. Other then that motel was ok.

Beautiful, Peaceful, Safe and Secure. Very clean the MATTRESSES ARE AMAZING!!!! Until next time LOVE from KENTUCKY! Oh and Mr. Big (the black cat) is really friendly and loves lovin'.

Just a great place to stay if you're in the area, quiet, neat, wonderful staff.

Great stay at this property. Clean, safe, and the staff was very friendly.

First stay was in August and stayed again with the kids in October. Great place to stay, great staff. We enjoyed our time there!

This is my 2nd year to stay at the gateway and the improvements made to the property are great. Its very convenient for the russel fork kayaking releases held every october. Thanks especially to Carl for his hospitality.
