Suizantei Club Jozankei-Adults Only

We stayed in Room 300, "Hotaruya," which was clearly designated as a non-smoking room. However, the bathroom had a strong residual smell of smoke, which even spread into the inner part of the room. During check-in, when inspecting the room, I immediately pointed this out to the reception staff, but they insisted they couldn’t smell anything. After dinner, still finding the smell unbearable, I went down to the front desk to request further action. The staff assured me they would spend an hour deodorizing the room. Unfortunately, the results were ineffective, confirming that the smoke odor was not minor and persisted throughout the night, leaving me feeling nauseous at times. Even if a previous guest was a heavy smoker, please thoroughly inspect and improve the winter ventilation system in your bathrooms. One staff member claimed not to notice the smell, while another spent an hour trying to remove it with no success. I trust you can check your records to see if anyone smoked in this room, especially since you made it clear during check-in that smoking in a non-smoking room would result in a fine. This shouldn’t be an issue for the next guest—especially when it’s been explicitly pointed out. I urge your staff to take such concerns seriously. At the very least, they could remove their masks to verify the smell themselves or ask a non-smoking colleague to confirm.

We only had 1 night to stay in this beautiful paradise 🥲🤍 It was the best stay of our 10 day trip in Japan and we would definitely be back to stay here again 🤍 Location: in the Jozankei Onsen town that’s about an hour + out of Sapporo. Honestly if you’re in a group, just book a cab out, it was about $80++ for 3 of us! Otherwise remember to book the Onsen bus shuttle early in advance 🥹 Area around Onsen is nothing much besides other Onsen houses, a small cafe and other smol tourist picture spots. Back to the Ryokan: this was my first experience being in one and I’m so glad I chose this place! Mum and sister throughly enjoyed it as well, using our in room Onsen ( there’s 2!) and also the shared common Onsen with an outdoor facing the snow too ❄️☃️♨️ Service:The staff was extremely polite and efficient, seeing the reviews of them being rude was kinda uncalled for. They were nothing but kind and attentive. It is a very quiet and peaceful place , I understand the need for all guests to be maintain the atmosphere too. Food: amazing, one of the best meals I’ve had in Japan so far ♥️ the pictures below speaks for itself 🥹 private dining room to enjoy the view too🏔️ Loved small touches too like the mikimoto soaps , Dyson hair dryers ( in the public Onsen) And the chopstick souvenirs 🥹 I can’t wait to come back here again with my partner 🤍
