Sometimes you get lucky in life, and this was one of those times. This boutique inn exceeded our expectations! Run efficiently and warmly by a wonderful family, from the moment we entered we felt well taken care of. Our room was well equipped and spacious. Our balcony looked over the ski runs. The beds were comfortable and every day it was made sparkling clean as we skied. Right down to the ski locker room equipped with a wall of boot dryers all details thought out. Afternoon tea awaited us every late afternoon. The food was incredible and we enjoyed having “our table” waiting for us for the yummy breakfasts and gourmet dinners. The Kostner family was there to answer every question we had from directions to ski areas to generalities about the area. The clientele we met have become friends! We came as guests, left as family. This is a gem in the beautiful area of Selva!

Nice atmosphere but wine measuring is ridiculous and a fregatura! the atmosphere was ok but quite noisy as it was a school holiday week. I ordered a glass of wine (there were several different wines by the glass at different price levels from 5 euros to 8 euros) the glass of wine arrives and i dont see the bottle that the wine came from and it was served in a glass with a line etched in it. Barely can get 4 sips from the glass before you need to order another one. considering the prices of the second dishes are an average of 28 euros each i find this measuring to have cheapened the restaurant. the food was ok but not what you would expect from the prices. we unfortunately will not be going back there and i do hope they change the way they serve their wine and also wait staff which were not very pleasant.

Just finished a 10 day skiing holiday at Hotel Freina. This is a wonderful family run hotel and is very conveniently located in Val Gardena, ski-in, ski-out, with a poma lift a few meters away to allow you to ski down to the Ciampinoi lift. Rooms are modern chalet-chic, and quite comfortable. Spotlessly clean. Breakfasts are plentiful, and very good, with the option of having à la carte eggs, etc. prepared for you. Really excellent caffè (NOT coffee capsules). We had booked on a B&B basis, but did enjoy a few dinners in the restaurant, which is quite busy and quite good (also very decently priced). The ski room is very convenient, well equipped with boot warmers, but does not offer individual lockers. During our stay, complimentary tea and baked goods were served in the afternoon for hotel guests, a nice touch when you are returning from your ski day. Complimentary cocktails and hors d’œuvres for guests were served on Sunday evenings. These little things count and make you feel cared for during your stay. I would highly recommend Hotel Freina for a ski holiday in the Dolomites.

Right on the ski slopes and in the heart of Selva di Val Gardena this small boutique hotel offers exceptionally friendly and fantastic service. Nothing is too much trouble and receives instant attention. Very comfortable rooms; afternoon teas and great breakfasts and dinners. At the time of our visit just after New Year the popular dining room can become crowded and a little noisy with many patrons visiting from around the town.

We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Freina. We felt like family every day, greeted with a warm hello from the entire staff. They remembered our preferences, our language (they speak a ton of languages!), and everyone was just so warm and genuine. The hotel itself is spotless! I always use house slippers in hotels and after 6 days, they were still white on the bottom! Wonderful location, staff, and love all the details. I can see why the business has been in the family for so many generations! Can't recommend enough - don't hesitate to stay here - you'll love it!

The rooms are large and with a superb view. Breakfast and dinner can always compete with the best hotels in Europa. We want to thank everyone and especially the Kostner family for a perfect vacation..

Hotel location is in excellent location. In general, experience was a pleasant one. Some shortcomings though: shower suite did not have curtains on its windows or outside blinds for privacy; tea bags were NOT included in the hefty price per night but we were charged an extra 3.50 euros per teabag. The kettle needs repairing or changing because it would not stop automatically.
