Hotel Sigiriya Reviews

Our least popular hotel stay in Sri Lanka. We checked in for 4 nights and needed to ask for a room change the following day given the toilet smelt and slowly kept flooding the bathroom floor. That problem clearly pre-existed, but given most people only stay a night, It wasn't something that was high on the hotels priority list to address. The coaches come and go carrying 55-70 year old Europeans and Chinese, and they only stay a night. The level of service at this hotel wasn't a great experience, with reception needing management attention. There were exceptions (pool guy and luggage porter were both lovely). The most frustrating thing about this hotel is that they should be rocking it. It's a great location, nice pool and a good setting, but that's where it stops. The rooms and restaurant are physically tired. Food was pretty average bordering poor despite being plentiful in choice. They had live music playing at night, which was so 'live' that it sent us to sleep early two nights in a row. Great idea, terrible execution, and that is pretty much how we would sum up the place. It's no surprise that the hero promotional shot used by the hotel to market it's hotel is the photo of the view from the swimming póol to Lions Rock. Sadly, that's the only hero experience to be found at this hotel.

Lovely hotel with comfortable beds situated a short drive from the Sigiriya rock. The restaurant area is the only place that has a view of the rock, and not the rooms itself. Still a lovely place to stay.

Fantastic location for a hotel. The pool and the lounge is just looking right up at lion rock. Rooms are generally clean and serviceable Breakfast was good as well

Wry clean. Best location to go sight seeing to one of the famous world heritages!

Nice place with beautiful swimming pool and great view at Sigiriya.

This is a wonderful hotel. Everything you need is provided. Friendly, helpful staff. A really relaxing journey. A feeling of luxury in all the parts of the hotel. The room is amazing.

It was such a beautiful place and provided a much needed respite! The massage was fantastic!! And dinner and cocktails delicious. Nothing beats swimming in the rain looking out at the great rock!

The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. There was a nice backyard as well. The hotel was beautiful, with a really good view to the Lion Rock. The swimming pool was cool. The food was tasty and with a great variaty (with western and local options). There was live music every night. The staff was super friendly and helpful.

I chose this hotel because it is close to Sigiriya Rock and you can climb it first thing in the morning. You can see Sigiriya Rock directly from the pool, and that alone is worth staying there. The room was renovated and there were no problems. The food is buffet style for both breakfast and dinner, with a wide variety and pretty tasty. I recommend having breakfast after climbing Sigiriya first thing in the morning.

The rooms are a little old, all rooms are on the first floor, there are many mosquitoes, but the environment is very good, you can see the Lion Rock directly from the swimming pool.

This hotel was just renovated on Ctrip (maybe just painted the walls, other facilities are old), the view is nice (as shown in the picture), and it is also close to Lion Rock, so I chose it because I wanted to have a good rest after climbing Lion Rock. I booked two rooms, but when I checked in, they said one of them was out of order. Although it was solved in the end, the experience was really bad: the cleanliness of the hotel and the catering were quite disappointing, not recommended.

The Sigiriya Hotel at the foot of Lion Rock is the biggest surprise of this trip. The price of less than 600 is very cost-effective. First of all, the service. The hotel staff have very good attitudes. They will give us freshly squeezed juice when we check it out, and they also take the initiative to help us connect to the hotel WiFi. The view of the hotel is great, and there is a small yard outside the balcony. There are singers playing and singing in the lobby in the evening, and the atmosphere is very good. If you are going to Lion Rock, it is highly recommended to stay here.
