Overall I’d give it a 4/5. I had a family room which was big, clean, and bright. The tv was massive, the bathroom was new and the view was decent considering the motorway is moments down the road. The location is good and the staff are competent and friendly. The general clientele seems to be an average age of 65 so it’s quite around the pool and gym.

What an excellent hotel, totally surprised, as it was away from the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam, about 2 hours North. Sitting on the back of a country part with great walks. Rooms were outstanding. Food was exceptional. Gym was good, as was the Sauna. A hotel I will return to for sure, staff were excellent. A review with no complaints.

We stayed here for two nights. Good time spent. Spacious room, with balcony, but actually without a view (look at the roof of the pool). The location is remarkably beautiful for a Van der Valkk hotel. Although it is located near the A28, it borders directly adjacent to the Dwingelderveld nature reserve. You can take some beautiful walks from the hotel without having to take the car. A negative point is the acoustics at the reception and in the restaurant. If it's a bit full, you can't understand a word of what is being said. A very friendly waitress suggested that we enjoy dinner in the lounge because of the noise. This was a golden tip.

Prima hotel. Het lijkt van binnen wat verouderd, maar dat doet niets af aan de netheid of service. Fijne ruime kamer met een goed bureau en goede, passende verlichting gezicht voor werken achter de laptop, make-up en dergelijke.

Mooie kamer (met balkon) en een goed restaurant. De meeste personeelsleden zijn zeer attent. Fijn zwembad en sauna . Kleine fitness maar wel volledig. Leuk extra was dat het NL wielerteam ook in get hotel was.

Voor een bezoek aan zus in een Groningse ziekenhuis een overnachting georganiseerd bij Hotel Van der Valk te Spier. Een fraaie comfort kamer nabij Welness en Zwembad voor een gunstige prijs. Het diner was uitstekend evenals het ontbijt. Wij komen graag als in het West van Nederland wonend in dit fraaie Hotel in Drenthe.

We hebben hier geluncht. De bediening was niet alert op binnenkomende en vertrekkende klanten. In de anderhalf uur dat wij er zaten, stonden en vrijwel steeds klanten zoekend te kijken om naar een tafeltje gebracht te worden of om af te rekenen. Tevens was de bediening niet alert op lege glazen en of borden. De lunch was verder prima: geen uitgebreide kaart, ook geen grote porties - gewoon prima. Het is wel een prachtige uitvalsbasis voor wandelaars.

We hadden een gerenoveerde erg mooie kamer met heerlijk bed en prachtige badkamer en lekkere airco. We hadden een terras, maar die keek uit op een blinde muur en lege rolcontainers met een lekke tuinslang, waardoor het terras nat was. Geen gezellig zitje dus. Lekker gezwommen in het heerlijke zwembad. Het terras is op zomerse dagen een meerwaarde en de ligging in het Nationaal Park Dwingelerveld is een pré. Je kan heerlijk fietsen en wandelen door een prachtige omgeving. Het avondeten bij het arrangement was erg slecht. Na een lekker voorgerecht kregen we een hoofdgerecht dat al lang onder de warmhoudplaat had gelegen en niet meer te eten was, echter het personeel gaf niet thuis. Het ontbijt was daarintegen voortreffelijk meer veel keuze. Dus al met al een heerlijk verblijf. Opvallend was wel het verblijf van asielzoekers in één van de velugels. Jammer van het diner, want dat was wel een grote met op dit prima verblijf.
