Nicely appointed and cottage with character-filled furnishing. Lovely quiet location with outlook to sheep grazing on one side and splendid gardens on the other. Car essential but short drive to show-piece wineries and just 10 minutes to Blenheim township. Fine hosts.

An amazing place quiet, comfortable a little piece of heaven with wonderful hosts Dave and Helen Breakfast is brought to your room fresh and delicious. Dave spent time writing down places to visit on my way to Christchurch You will need a car but the pay off is piece and quiet

The Jolly Poacher Retreat is your home away from home, when travelling the Marlborough Region. We stayed for two nights, with our 4yo daughter, who loved exploring the beautiful gardens. We felt relaxed as soon as we arrived, Helen and Dave are very helpful and you'll certainly receive a warm welcome on arrival. The beds are comfy, lovely facilities, with all you need BBQ, microwave, plates, cups, tea, fridge, milk, coffee and please order the scrambled eggs for breakfast, delicious!! You'll relax by the warm heater inside, with a glass of Marlborough vino in hand, perfect after a days exploring!

Set in a tranquil, green setting within easy reach of all that the Blenheim area has to offer, The Jolly Poacher offers something different. Its detached, delightful hunting and fishing themed lodges contrast with the normal stark motel units. Very comfortable beds, breakfast based around fresh eggs from the retreat's hens and home made preserves. Add the marvelous welcome and hosting of owners Helen and Dave and you have an accommodation option that places it above the pack. Highly recommended.

This was to be a three day break between busy times. I arrived into this haven of quiet within ten minutes of Blenheim. Trees, gardens, flowers, livestock and wonderful hosts.No traffic. But great wifi. A wonderful very very large bed. Plenty of nooks and crannies to curl up with a book, both inside and outside. But the Jolly Poacher is not your normal motel: it is quirky and thematically furnished...mine was a hunting lodge. The other one was fishing. Wonderful shower!! Above all the hosts were wonderful. It is wonderfully placed to connect to the ferry. I will be back!

Such a lovely place. Helen and Dave made our short stay very memorable. Kind and hospitable - us and our boys loved getting a tour of your gorgeous property. Highlights were the very comfy beds, rainfall shower, and the delicious scrambled eggs in the morning. Our only gripe is the fact we were only staying one night! Thank you so much and we'll be recommending you to all friends and family

Extremely hospitable hosts and immaculately presented, slightly quirkily themed accomodations. Great spot to stop or stay a while and handy to berry farms north of Blenheim.

If you are looking for a place to chill out and relax in beautiful surroundings then this is it. The cabin we stayed in was a cleverly themed hunters cabin with vintage decor and modern amenities. The enormous bed gave us the best nights sleep since we had arrived in NZ. A delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs, home made preserves, bread and juice was delivered every morning. Our hosts, Dave and Helen, were very welcoming and gave us suggestions of places to visit in the area, some of which we would never have known about or found. We thought they were all excellent suggestions and worth the drive. Our only disappointment was that we had only booked 3 days and not more.
