The K Club

We really enjoyed our visit to The K Club. It was so relaxing and had a lovely atmosphere. The staff were so helpful and courteous.

We had two wonderful days in the K club. The staff couldn't do enough for you. Special thanks to Tony Murry the guest relations manager who went above and beyond to make our stay a special one. The room was lovely. Bed was fabulous. I normally don't sleep well in hotels but slept like a baby both nights. Can't wait to go back. Mirjam & Mark

As a regular customer of the K club I was told the last time I was served a rotten salad that the manager thought it was quite alright. I not taken a photo to prove the food I was served was rotten. So when Again this evening I received rotten, slimy lettuce with my Caesar salad and when I sent it back, the manager did not even have the professionalism to come and discuss the vile food I had been served. So I have decided to document and publish the photo of my food. Not good enough K Club! Not good enough. Definitely NOT 5 star.

We have just returned from celebrating my father in law’s 70th birthday. From the moment we arrived we were given the warmest welcome I have ever received from a hotel. Brendan, Tony and Caesar couldn’t do enough to ensure our stay was special. The rooms were superb, the drinks in the martini bar were exquisite and the atmosphere at the Straffan Inn local pub was everything you want and more. The team in the pro shop were a pleasure to deal with and the lamb croquettes in the Palmer North were a joy to behold. Breakfast was high quality and the kids enjoyed the pool/spa. We would not hesitate to recommend to family and friends and would like to say a huge thank you to the K club team for making the weekend such a special one.

The K club is a hotel we return to time and time again. The STAFF are absolutely incredible and such helpful, kind people. Cesar Manalo, the Guest relations manager left such a good impression on us this time around. Kind, fun conversation, we met him hours after check in at a really busy time and he still remembered our names which really mattered to us. It’s an amazing facility but I’ve wrote countless reviews here about the staff in K club being the best Ireland has to offer.

We very much enjoyed our time at the K Club. The hotel and the grounds are stunning. The rooms are very comfortable and well stocked with all of the convenience items you may need during your stay. The staff is very attentive and bends over backwards to accommodate. We were at the K Club around Easter and the lobby area was very nicely decorated, the kids were given Easter goodies at check-in, and the kids were very exited to see the baby chicks who were temporarily living in a little enclosure in the lobby area. The one down side, if I had to choose one, would be that there were a few times we came across young unsupervised children. Understandably the parents are on vacation but it was sometimes off-putting to have those children following us around and intruding on our family time because no one else seemed to be paying attention. Otherwise everything about our stay was amazing!

We decided to splurge on a weekend away at the end of the Easter holidays and a recommendation from friends was to try The K Club. The hotel and grounds are amazing, set out of the way it sits on an amazing land and even from arriving on the drive you are greeted at the gates and made to feel at home and special. The staff are amazing there. Friendly and approachable all the time, and they look after all your needs. The room we were in was great. Room 160 is on the 3rd floor and in the newer part of the hotel, but its getting dated and worn and there are some improvements needed. We had our kid with us, so they had a "roll out" bed in the room for us, but they did not take into consideration bath towels for the extra person, so we had to request that. There also was no extra bath robe or slippers for going down to the pool in for him. The TV is locked down, so we had a USB key with some kids movies on it, but were not able to access them as the remote did not allow us to scroll though the movies. There were only 2 chairs in the room for 3 of us, so one was always sitting on the bed if the others were sitting down, and the small seats that usually are at the foot of the bed were worm and had lost their padding so were uncomfortable. When we got into the room there was a charger in the socket from the previous guest which the housekeeping team had not spotted which was strange, so a 5 star hotel should have spotted these small things. We were B&B so had our breakfasts on site which were continental style with a cooked breakfast option too. There was plenty to eat and the quality of the food was great. The SPA facilities were great and we used the pool a number of times. The "games room" for the kids however was really dated and more a store room for toys. There were 2 arcade style machines, a giant Connect4, a pool table that had a massive roll on it so was tricky to play on, a basketball game that again did not work, and an air hockey table that did not work and was missing its hockey puck. There was also food inside the slots for the puck. This really needed to be brought up to date. We ate on site the 1st night in South, and again had lunch there the second day, but the lunch menu needs to be revised. There are basically only 3 additional things on the menu for lunch and for the kids it was the same menu so we had to ask them to make a sandwich for our son instead of giving him a meal. We had a drink in the bar at the hotel too, but found that they automatically add a service charge of 12.5% onto the bill in way of tip even though we had read on the menus that this charge was for parties of 8 or more. We would have preferred to tip the staff directly rather than being forced a service charge.

The K club is simply wonderful. There is a certain magic in the air that is difficult to articulate. It is more than the sum of its parts. An oasis of calm with understated luxury and quality. You will get everything you expect from a five star property and yet it is the unexpected that actually makes the difference … thorough attention to every detail of your happiness from every member of staff. A rare attribute in hospitality today. THANK YOU ALL for your kindness and caring, It is the staff that make the KClub a uniquely wonderful haven of very special memories.

We did have an enjoyable stay at the K Club but unfortunately we reported to the reception that the bedding was stained , and the small poof at the end of the bed was quite dirty. We asked for these to be changed and we were offered a room move, we declined the room move but asked for the bedding to be changed at least. We were sitting in the blue martini bar , when the gentleman from the reception came and asked us again if we wanted to room move , we were sitting with our family friends and declined once again. The gentleman left and after a few minutes came back again to offer us a room move . This really embarrassed us in front of our friends but also the patrons of the bar as this was the second time he came in . We were embarrassed enough after the first time he came in having to explain to our family friends what was going on, but I think to approach us AGAIN after clearly refusing a number of times is a bit disrespectful. The second time he came to the bar he actually had moved our room , again we had clearly DECLINED wanting to move , We felt as if we were not being listened to and it was quite overpowering and disrespectful. When we finished in the bar we went back to the reception and explained we had just wanted the bedding changed and didn’t want to move,the reception was trying to convince us to stay in the new room , when we finally got back to our room , we discovered they had never changed anything. We were greeted by the guest relations manager the next morning . I believe his name was Tom , he offered us a complimentary lunch in the bar the next day , which we availed. I work in the industry and have worked in many hotels over Europe but I’ve never experienced such determination and disrespect when we have clearly declined.
