We were a late arrival but so warmly received! Cosy room on a winters night with quality amenities. Homemade rusks, coffee station and a well stocked bar fridge! Ambiance, pool so relaxing . Misty crisp morning walk in landscaped garden with lemon trees loaded with fruit. The sumptuous breakfast so appetizing and well presented by the most friendly staff. Highly recommended to any weary traveler or tourist.

Beautiful, almost sparkling hotel. It was immaculate everywhere and everything was so clean and shiny. Received a very warm welcome and lots of lovely snacks and fruits in our room, which was cosy and welcoming and looked out onto the pool and beautiful gardens, with zebra and springbok in the rear (enclosed!) area. Breakfast was a delight - again everything fresh and well cooked. We had to leave a day earlier than planned which was no reflection on the hotel at all but the receptionist was very concerned that something was wrong (it wasn't!) which shows their level of care. Also found that our car had been cleaned by a member of staff which was a very nice added touch. Would highly recommend. Our only disappointment was that good restaurants were a fair distance away so you would need either a car or taxi to get anywhere. Did not like the restaurant next-door!

My wife and I stayed for two nights. We had the Africa Suite which was comfortable, well furnished and spacious with a huge naturally-lit bathroom. The property itself is well maintained with lovely semi tropical gardens and a nice pool area. 4 stars would not be enough but I would have given 4 1/2 if I could for a couple of reasons. (1) the hotel is a long way from the centre (30/40 minute walk at least and) where most of the restaurants are and (2) although efficient, the lady on reception was not particularly welcoming (but not unpleasant) and seemed to have little interest in us, something that we have not found with other hotels during our stay. Would we go back? Probably not although it really is a very nice property for a relaxing stay.

Not impressed. No hot water for nearly two days. Fridges that don't get cold and no braai facilities. All of us were also bitten by something that wasn't mosquito's. The staff were friendly and efficient though.

We had the loft suite and it was absolutely beautiful! Every detail is so tasteful, the decor the gardens, the breakfast… highly recommend and would suggest more than one night. It’s an exceptional place to stay. They even washed our car before we left! Loved it!

This place was the nicest we have stayed in South Africa.. we had the espirit suite and it was an enormous and luxurious set of rooms overlooking the lake. Much has been said about the springbok s and zebra in the adjoining field but mention must be made of the crickets, and the weaver birds we watched from the private patio in front of our room. Magical. The room and gardens were filled with floating flower heads. The plentiful towels were thick and fluffy. The toiletries were good quality . And the room contained ground coffee and a percolator, home made rusks, fruit, water, and a well stocked minibar. The super king 4 poster bed had fabulous quality bedding and was so comfortable. The breakfast. Oh the breakfast was sooo good. Fruit salad yoghurt, cereals and juice followed a menu of cooked options. I thoroughly recommend the French toast. Oh, and the younger berry jam is scrumptious.scones, crosissqnta and good qulitycoffee. It was a feast. And this is after we ate a fab dinner at the next door restaurant the previous night. The welcome at this blissful place was warm, and we felt very safe. I can’t recommend this place enough. Sadly we stayed for one night only but it was a long way from a stop over- this place is a destination and an event. It has a superb well kept ( and warm!!)swimming pool , wonderful gardens, and great communal indoor areas too. It is well worth a detour just to have this experience!

Settler style lodge, great grounds with zebra and springbok in an enclosure at the end. Also, a pond with lots of weaver birds. Breakfast was good, the staff very helpful and informative. Room was an open suite, large and well equipped. About 3 minutes drive from the centre of Swellendam

This hotel is a gem. It is located a the outskirts of Swellendam near some restaurants in two historic early 19th century buildings. It is surrounded by a beautiful garden with springboks and a zebra. There is a small pool. A great breakfast is served. All is very clean.

Lovely spacious room, nicely decorated with local art pieces, large bathroom . Bed is firm with nice bedding . Our room overlooked the large Lilly pond. Having the zebra and buck in the fields is lovely. Breakfast was nice. You have to use a streaming service for television.

The staff were lovely and helpful and the facility was nice and comfortable. Breakfast was included and they were extremelv kind to accommodate any type of diet. It's a pretty property and feels safe. The location is also good, and there is a reasonable restaurant next door for dinner. There was nothing to dislike to be honest. The only thing is that there isn't much to do in Swellendam itself, and the load shedding didn't help.

We only stayed here for one night on our way to Knysna, and our host at Rothman Manor made it as comfortable as possible. The rooms are really lovely and the attention to detail is fantastic. We have large one on the second floor, It really feels that they are trying their absolute best to make your stay as relaxing as possible. We had a very tasty dinner in Woodpecker Italian restaurant next to Manor and breakfast was gougious.

Sadly we cannot agree with the previous outstanding reviews and were very disappointed. The Rothman Manor in Swellendam was below par, with Chantelle? hurriedly checking us in. Quickly showing us the various keys and time for breakfast. TV was all in German, hot tub???; lounge??; help with cases??; NO information although we did find a booklet in the room as we were leaving!! We could find no information on load shedding timetable nor password. We were looking forward to chilling out after the drive from Fanschhoek but did not feel very welcome and only one person running the manor was inadequate as she was just too busy to pay attention to detail. Couldn’t find her to ask any questions. Rothman Manor is certainly not first class and a huge disappointment. Fortunately we did find a lovely restaurant, Drotsky, in Swellendam in the evening.

This is a most stunning location and the perfect place to unwind after a long drive along the garden route. The grounds are luscious and immaculate and the zebra and springbok are the icing on the cake. There is also a lot of bird life here - perfect if you are into photography. The rooms are spacious and clean. - all areas are beautifully decorated. This place is perfection! I would highly recommend and would definitely book to stay here again.
