Outstanding
GGuest UserMy family had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Front desk staff were amazing. The Cleaner came to knock the door at 11:45am and as soon as she knocked she opened the door with her key. She didn’t even wait 30 seconds for a response….keep in mind check out is 12noon so we still had 15 minutes to gather our things still. This was the only down side but that’s the error of one single worker so I would stay at this same hotel again whenever I travel to Ottawa.
KKa Ka BoyThe Fairmont Chateau Laurier is an iconic landmark in Ottawa, offering a perfect blend of luxury, history, and charm. Guests can enjoy a guided tour of the hotel to uncover its rich heritage. Adding a unique touch to the experience is Stewart, the hotel's beloved canine ambassador. This friendly black Labrador retriever, once trained as a guide dog, now welcomes guests and has even inspired a children's book series titled ”Stewart: King of the Castle”.
The hotel features a beautiful indoor pool with a classic, historical ambiance, making it a serene retreat after a day of exploration. Its prime location places you steps away from Parliament Hill, the Rideau Canal, and the bustling ByWard Market, with museums and other major attractions within easy walking distance. Whether you're visiting for business or leisure, the Fairmont Chateau Laurier delivers an exceptional and memorable stay.
GGuest UserGreat stay. Central location downtown. Comfortable bed and pillows. Felt relaxed and revitalized. Room as upgraded at check in by the receptionist so that was a bonus!
AAlicia York-BirdI've stayed at this hotel several times now; I enjoy how clean, quiet, and nicely decorated the suites and the hotel itself are!
The bathrooms are beautiful, very clean, and well-appointed, as are the rooms themselves.
Very pleased and will stay here again when my travels take me through this area once more.
JJinkaiwen05The hotel is a little old and the elevator is slow.
Then when he booked, he said it was a standard room, but when he checked in, he directly allocated the standard room, saying that they arranged it like this. Everything else is fine, there is a Costco around, and there is a takeaway Chinese food, which is very convenient.
HHanfordPros: a parking lot with sufficient space (no need to book in advance). A shopping mall St Laurent is nearby. The breakfast is ok. There are 2 sockets and 2 USB-A outlet on each side of the bed. The staff are friendly in general.
Cons: A bit far away from the tourist attractions downtown (around 10 minutes drive). The coffee from the in-room coffee machine was so-so. The air-conditioner was quite noisy. The TV in my room couldn't be turned off (It went off automatically after no-signal for a while anyway). There were some paper cups for coffee but no other glass / cups in the whole room even for brushing teeth so I had to use paper cups for brushing teeth (Is it considered environmental friendly?)
SSiu ChinRoom is in good size even for a family.
There 5-6 lifts but there are always long queues for lifts there. The lifts do not seem to serve their purpose well. In the morning, the hotel controls all lifts. You can’t press Down Button for a life to come down to check out or to the car park. You have to wait till someone who comes out to where you are on a lift way up or down. Never found hotel lifts operating so weirdly 😳 After checking out, I tried to take the stairs case to go down to the car park, I couldn’t do that because a room key was required to access the staircase😖
The electric door lock for our room had been beeping most of the time. Informed hotel to fix it.
GGuest UserBooked 2 nights for a colleague and he said having nice experience in the hotel. Room was clean and spacious. Good to have the fitness room which met his needs.
Hotel location is good and convenient to various places around DT Ottawa.
GGuest UserThe hotel is new and the facilities are decent. The room even had a shower cap. Breakfast was just okay, but it's great value for money. We stayed with our one-year-old, and it was convenient and comfortable for three adults and one child in a single room. It's not far from the city center, and parking is pretty easy. The only issue is that there's a homeless shelter nearby, so it felt a bit unsafe for solo travelers. It's best not to wander around alone outside, and you'll be fine.
