New Helvetia Hotel

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel, and it exceeded my expectations in every way. The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating, the rooms were clean and well-appointed, and the amenities provided a perfect blend of comfort and luxury. I particularly enjoyed the delicious dining options on-site. Overall, it was a delightful experience, and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a memorable and enjoyable stay.

Had the greatest weekend, rooms were so clean and cozy. The fireplace in the lounge made the atmosphere so homy.The staff were amazing and so helpful! Definitely recommend and will be back when it snows. BEST HOT CHOCOLATE IN CYPRUS.

16 years I live in Cyprus and here is a hotel I fell in love with at first sight : it captures the authenticity of this beautiful island, and it becomes quite rare. The place seems to stop the time and you feel like hanging around in this hotel. It's charming and comforting, and it really has a soul (if you look for brand new infrastructure, a pool and modern stuff, this place is not for you, just to be clear). The staff was helpful, discrete and reactive just like the manager of the hotel, Yiorgos, an energetic and friendly person who advices well on what to do round Platres (hikers, cyclists, wanderers, outdoors people: he is your person). The views are lovely (we were in room 35 with a view to the inner centre and main entrance of the hotel), as well as from the restaurant. The bedroom and bathroom were clean. Pictures from the website are honest, you won't have any bad surprises. From around midnight the place becomes silent, as the hotel is conveniently located just at the entrance of Pano Platres (upper Platres city), 2 minutes walk from the Caledonian falls trail (superb and feasible with kids, round 10-11 yo if willing to walk up this path, that is not steep but not flat either - count a good 45 minutes to 1 hour to get up there for sure, more if you take breaks). In order to access the main road of Platres (restaurants, Millomeris falls access (and lower/Kato Platres) the Milia bridge, count about 7-8 minutes by car and a good 35 minutes by foot (going down hill on the way, uphill back to the hotel). In our opinion as locals, the prices are more than reasonable for the quality of the stay. Loved the whole experience as a French who lived long here and grew really tired of the super modern bling bling bad taste resorts bursting out everywhere like ugly mushrooms.

We stayed here last minute so didn't arrive with any high expectations, but honestly this place is a more of a hostel than a hotel. The room was terrible, old fashioned and cold. Heating didn't work and no blankets supplied. The bathroom was so small, shower water ran either scaulding or freezing. It was just terrible. We paid for breakfast but didn't have any as it looked equally aweful...

I like the vibes of this hotel and the privacy that its location offers , almost within the forest, basic options for breakfast and nothing special or fancy but the ambiance of its common rooms especially around the fire place is ideal for a group of friends to gather and enjoy board games, its a tradition within our group for the last years. if you are lucky you can wake up surrounded by snow

The hotel is lovely and fits the scenery. The guys who work there are very helpful and hardworking they were great! The breakfast is a little poor. The rooms were clean and very warm and perfect for a family. We would stay here again. The hotel also has a nice bar area which is also great for the kids as they are able to lease around there too.

Lovely room, warm and upper floor cosy. Nice sitting area on the ground floor, also with a chess table that came in handy. Lovely bar, lovely people. Dinner was also very good. I've noticed that the owners are always there and it sort of feels homely. Also, for those into skiing, Platres offers proximity to the ski slopes while relaxing in a wonderful village with several tavernas.

The hotel is so beautiful! The customer service is so kind! The rooms are spacious and cozy! We loved the vintage furniture and the fireplace at the cafe area! Also very reasonable price , and the location is in the woods with amazing mountain view and fresh air!

It is an old establishment and needs a lot of renovation. It is kept very clean, breakfast was reasonable. The service was good even though we would prefer somewhat more smiling faces. The view from the hotel's porch & verandas was really astounding. We shall definitely visit again.
