My colleague and I held our new company's first consulting course at Hotel Vara as I had previously been to check it out and been very impressed. Tim, Hazel and all the staff made every effort to ensure the day went smoothly and the service was exemplary; polite, efficient, proactive...they had thought of everything and continued to be on hand to help throughout the day. The setting was terrific and every element from the aforementioned service to the food, the climate and the visual aids were top notch. We'll be recommending Hotel Vara as a destination to all our clients.

Chosen more or less randomly on *******. First impressions were that Truro is very hilly and the treck from the station is mostly uphill! Nice Victorian building in good condition and the room was fine- comfortable and quiet, with tea making as necessary. Nice bed and shower room. Haven’t had breakfast yet but the woodstove was very welcome on a wet evening.

Hotel has some really lovely original features in the lobby area. Has been nicely decorated and has a warm and cosy feel to it. Room was very clean and comfortable, and quiet. Had a good view, overlooking the car park towards the hills in the distance. Excellent breakfast. I also ate in the hotel in the evenings - the pizza and the greek salad were lovely, but the evening menu is a little bit limited - fine for a few nights though. Excellent location, easy to find and easy to park. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Very upmarket friendly hotel convenient for Truro city centre. Good facilities for business meetings, great food and bar, rooms very traditional. Staff go out of their way to help. Great location for business or a weekend away in glorious Cornwall.

I recently stayed at Vara during a business trip, and it was a fabulous experience. The location is incredibly convenient for accessing the town, and the overall comfort of the place was top-notch. The staff at Vara played a significant role in making my stay exceptionally welcoming—they were great! A heartfelt thank you to Vara for providing such a positive and enjoyable accommodation experience. I look forward to returning on my future visits. Highly recommended!

I run a Women's Coaching Community, and we've been using Hotel Vara as our main venue for 4 months or so now. I absolutely love this venue, as do all of my Community. We hire both meeting room spaces throughout the month, and thoroughly enjoy having use of gorgeous break out spaces by the fire - and also somewhere to eat and drink fine wines and lovely pizza! The staff here Eliot and Jenson are always so professional, I can never fault them. Always so eager to please and accommodate what we need. Such a friendly welcome and smile everytime we enter :) Thank you for being our best venue - so glad to have found Hotel Vara. Katie x

Came here for a meeting, amazing facilities and was a perfect space for what I needed. The staff was brilliant, Elliott was super helpful. Nothing was too much hassle! Would recommend Hotel Vara to anyone. Thank you team Vara for everything!

An expensive night at what was chosen to be a reputable boutique hotel but seriously disappointed with returning at 1.30am after the masquerade ball with my 82 year old mum and other family members to find my partner and I had no bottom sheet. This was a superior suite. None of the staff seemed shocked apart from one who said it would be reported to housekeeping. No compensation was offered. Otherwise, we couldn't fault the cleanliness. Somehow I also missed the fact that there was only a continental breakfast. Egg boiling machine is a great idea but not if it takes more than 10 minutes. Morning staff were insistent that we left dead on or before 11am. Fair enough it was New Years Day but it wasn't the experience we were hoping for. I hope that they can make this the hotel it should be. I will look elsewhere in Truro next time I need to stay... Or maybe pay less in the taxi fair home!

Team session here this last week Hotel nicely presented Large meeting room / events / restaurant space at the rear Just need to think about equipment TV screen is small for the space There is no stand for the white board - impractical / difficult to use No flip charts Note pads and pens would have been handy (and typical) Lunch fine - very nice soup Tea and coffee were fine but no biscuits with refreshments? We’d use again but need a bit more thought ref meeting specific requirements
