There were MANY of us here this past weekend in town for my Dad's Memorial/Celebration of Life (held next door at Roots). The entire reason I am giving this review 5 stars is because of the staff, in particular, Cathy and Deb. First, about the property. It's on the old side although it's been fairly recently renovated/updated. It is VERY clean. Yes, because of its age you can sometimes hear other guests but they front desk staff do their best to handle any noise complaints. Our daughter was next to an extremely rude and obnoxious guest who was very inconsiderate. They did tell her if he kept it up they'd evict him (she chose not to push it since he was very aggressive). The breakfast was fine, and they kept it continually replenished (available from 6 - 9:30, we were there towards the end of that time and there was always plenty). As mentioned above, the staff went above and beyond. One night a group of 15 or so of us used the breakfast area to visit and eat pizza (delivered). Cathy provided us with plates, napkins, etc., and even came out later with a special treat for our two youngest family members. The next day, Deb went above and beyond to help us secure the conference room at zero cost so we could continue visiting and celebrating my Dad (someone else had taken over the breakfast area that afternoon so we had nowhere else to gather). One thing to be aware of. Internet RSVPS are made via a third party so if there is any issue with the rates upon checking in, the front desk can't do anything about it (I booked two rooms within 1/2 hour of another and one room was $30 more per night than the other (exact same type of room)). This was frustrating but not the hotel's fault.
