Almanac Palais Vienna

This was probably one of the best boutique hotels I have stayed in and certainly the best in Vienna!

Very nice and luxurious hotel, great big and beautiful design rooms, very well equiped with comfortable bed and all amenities. We have stayed in a lot of good hotels in Vienna, but Almanac Palais is a top choice, we highly recommend. Kind and friendly staff, breakfast was also great and location is very good, next to city centre and central park. We went to all central attractions by feet, didn’t need a public transport/taxi at all. Also very close to Wien Mitte railstation and CAT airport train. We will come back in out next trip to Alamanac and we highly recommend it.

I regret only one thing - we could not stay longer in this amazing property. Elena, who was checking us in, has been incredibly sweet, caring, attentive. Gave us an upgrade, provided with excellent restaurant recommendations. We loved the location of the hotel, close to the old town and to the park. Supermarket, pharmacy, restaurants - everything within 5 min walk. Junior suite was very spacious, with huge king size bed that can easily fit 4 people. Another great thing about this property - excellent sound isolation, we did not hear any cars, even our room was on the first floor. Alex was very helpful with the luggage, arranged an airport taxi for us and gave us excellent travel tips for our next visit to Austria. If we ever decide to go back to Vienna we will definitely come back to Almanac. Only request I have from my side - I wish breakfast was buffet and not a la carte.

Overall the staff were pleasant, the hotel was extremely clean and we had a decent stay. Upon arrival we received an underwhelming check in experience, staff were young and relatively inexperienced. We felt that a supervisor should have accompanied the new starter for a more seamless welcome. The staff member was not knowledgeable and gave little information concerning facilities and timings etc. Whilst we appreciated that the hotel gave us a room upgrade, the assigned suite wasn’t what we wanted. The suite was dark, dreary and impractical for our needs with duplex stairs. Upon investigation we learned that it wasn’t an upgrade as much as they had given our booked Junior Suite away. To the hotel’s credit they did move us to a much better suite and we really enjoyed our new rooms. They gave us an option of rooms to choose. The suite was clean and modern, the bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was powerful. However, the air-con stopped working at night. Due to poor design, we could not open the windows and keep the blinds shut at the same time which made the night’s sleep uncomfortable. We felt this was a result of the hotel trying to save money. Privacy was also lacking in the toilet design and the shower overflowed. The rooms would really benefit from a luggage rack and a personal touch like artwork, a mirror or fresh flowers. We were disappointed in the lack-lustre spa facilities. No staff were present and the steam room was turned off and the pool temperature was freezing. We believe that the spa and pool should be a relaxing perk of staying in a 5 star hotel and yet this spa felt soulless. This was another example of lack of care for guest experience and we couldn’t feel “effort” from this hotel. The breakfast restaurant is a beautiful and contemporary design, the food of a high quality. This was our favourite part of our stay and would recommend that you start the day here. We felt quite shocked at the lack of care and finesse of the hotel and staff. After checking out we went into the city and received a banking update to say that the hotel had amended the price and had over charged us. We had to go back to the hotel to address this and it took longer than needed to rectify. We did not receive compensation or a genuine apology which left us feeling disappointed. To summarise, this hotel is a decent low end 5 star which has glimmers of potential to be something much greater. In the interim, the hotel needs to concentrate on delivering high class service, attention to detail and creating an unforgettable atmosphere and experience that the price tag reflects. A 5 star stay should be effortless but unfortunately the Almanac Palais falls short.

Super 5 star hotel -we have been impressed by our stay this week. The breakfast staff in particular stand out (26/27/28 March) as they are so busy yet friendly efficient, pay attention to detail and the food is great! I recommend the tea station's ginger mint and honey combo, with poached eggs gluten free bread and their breakfast berry bowl is a real treat. The housekeeping team are never seen but are super at their job, cleaning and refreshing rooms to the highest standards. We may never have met you but you are appreciated!

Wonderful hotel with well-appointed rooms, great bed(!), fantastic restaurant for breakfast and dinner, good bar and excellent facilities. Such a great location too within five minutes walking distance of train station to airport and Stadtpark metro station. Lovely area just to explore in Spring sunshine.

A beautiful hotel perfectly located for our first visit to Vienna. We walked everywhere on foot. The hotel exceeded our expectations on all levels, The breakfast was excellent with waiter service rather than a buffet. We would definitely book this hotel again if we return to Vienna.
