Travelodge Retford Markham Moor

Tired decor and poor maintenance, sink came away from the wall and the bed head wooden surround came away in my hand

The travel lodge was clean and comfy as expected. Great price for a stop over on our journey on the A1. The stuff were very friendly especially receptionist Kaz who helpfully offered to upgrade my two teenage sons to a family room, so they didn’t have to share a bed.

A warm welcome to a comfortable room, as usual. A little difficult to locate the parking, which is in front of KFC, & the Lodge is set back with foliage slightly obstructing a clear view of the entrance. The services it self has only a few amenities & is undergoing some refurbishment.

Fantastic service from the minute I walked through the door , friendly staff with great attitudes and professional service, my room is to a great standard and very clean . I would highly recommend the hotel and its staff to anyone looking for a hotel in the area.

I requested a ground floor room. Unfortunately, the person in the room above was obviously wearing heavy boots because you could them walking back and forth to the toilet and the door. Nobody’s fault, just that the floorboards are not that well sound insulated. Generally, the room was clean but it really could do with a deep clean. The carpet looked like it had seen better days. Only one window could be opened. The locking mechanism on the other window was broken. One of the cleaning products used in the bathroom left a lingering smell that was there for the two nights I stayed. It seemed to ‘leach’ into some of my belongings. I’m guessing some kind of bleach. Before I checked out, I stripped the bed. I always do this to assist the hotel staff as their job is never easy! I did notice that the quilt appeared to have one or two stains. The mattress protector appeared ok. Overall, this hotel was adequate for a brief stopover.

What a team. My disabled husband, elderly dog and I were stranded following a car breakdown. Both the night team manager and the day team manager (I think their names were Karen and Lisa - please forgive me if wrong) could not have done anymore to help and support us throughout the night and into the morning. They looked after us superbly, helping with luggage, facilities - making sure my husband had everything he needed to support with his needs. The room was perfect, warm and cosy - we all had a really comfortable sleep and their help was so so greatly appreciated. One day we'll come back (in our now fixed car!) and have a stress free stay with you - what a team!!!
