The wife and I stayed here for one night as we were visiting friends in the area. There's not a lot of competition and the Elephant seemed to be the place to go judging by reviews. We were greeted by an enthusiastic member of staff who sorted us and our friend out with our rooms. the rooms are quirky and have themes such as "Maharaja of Jaipur", "Le Mans", and "Karma Sutra". they have antique furniture and look nothing like a chain hotel - which also means they have character. Our room has a big, flat screen TV, ample high quality tea/coffee, lovely shower and a big, comfortable bed. Everything we needed for a comfy sleep after our friend's birthday bash. The car park is small but there's a public car park right next door which is cheap. The room includes a book which advises you of services available, has useful local phone numbers and information. We didn't try the food so I cannot comment on that. There's a lovely garden area outside which will be great in spring and summer. They have some ground floor rooms which are fairly accessible for those with mobility issues. these can be specifically booked over the telephone. Probably the best place in the area to stay.
