Hotels in Xijindu Ancient Street/Jinshan, Zhenjiang

This is our first time to Zhenjiang. This hotel is within 10 minutes taxi ride from Zhenjiang railway station. On 27 Dec 2023, we arrived late at night and all the shops nearby the hotel have already closed. So, no dinner. The reception staff, Fang Rong and 张师傅, took good care of us by offering snacks and carried our luggage into the room. The hotel’s location and environment are fantastic! It is located at Xijindu ancient street where you can stroll along the ancient street. The museum and old British consulate are within walking distance from the hotel, through the ancient street, past a 观音 cave. Another tourist spot, Jinshan 金山 is also within 20 minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel’s breakfast is delicious and good value for money. The hotel’s room is very clean, very comfortable and very nice. The hotel’s staff Steven is friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the area. Upon check out, we got a small trinket as souvenir. I had a pleasant stay and will definitely choose this hotel again. Thank you all for the outstanding service and warm hospitality during our stay.

All good except the room service, which I was forced to use, as I had to work late from my room. Ordering was not at all simple (having not spotted the QR code notice on the fridge work top. But response was swift, so too was delivery of the order. However, the ”Ceasar Salad” was sorrowful! Lettuce leaves awash in some sort of watery white fluid, with no discernable taste, some croutons and a few pieces of dried bacon. Especially disappointing given how lovely the fruit and vegetables are most of the time in China. Main course ”Lemon and Herb Chicken” should have been listed as ”Lemon and Herb Skin and Bones”!!! There was virtually NO actual chicken meat. Roated tomatoes and asparagus were lovely, Dessert was uninspiring, but compared to the salad and main course for sure the best course. The Wine? Completely undrinkable. Opened, poured a small amount to taste, spoilt. It happens, sadly! Would be a good idea to open the wine to test before serving

There were a few blood stains on the curtains, and the slippers were torn. What was even more disturbing was that the shower head had to be held by hand when taking a shower. If it was hung on the wall, it would deflect to the corner of the wall as soon as the water was turned on (video). A very bad stay experience. The price is 427 yuan, which is not worth it! I really don’t recommend staying in a hotel like this in the city of Zhenjiang!

The hotel is located in the Xijindu Scenic Area, and it is not far from the west entrance. Next to it is Jingji Road, and the buildings and sycamore trees from the Republic of China period are very beautiful. The hotel is a few small buildings with a beautiful environment and good service. Before check-in, the housekeeper Xiaoqi contacted in advance and sent the hotel location map, travel guide, food recommendations and maps. During the stay, he kept in touch and gave tips and help. He was very warm and thoughtful. The hotel room is comfortable, the bedding is comfortable, and the hygiene is clean. There is tea, coffee, lemonade in the lobby, and the breakfast tastes good. The overall feeling is very good, five-star praise.

The hotel is very good, suitable for friends who like quietness. The whole guesthouse is quite big, there are several separate buildings. We booked Building 1, check-in and restaurant are in Building 1 itself, and taxis can go directly to the door, which is very convenient. The room is not new but very clean, not old, the whole is very good ～ This area in Zhenjiang City is not big, and it is very convenient to take a taxi for about 10 yuan. Key points: The hotel is separated from the Jinshan Temple Scenic Area by a wall. You can't go directly from the hotel, but you can come back from this door near Zhongyi Spring, and let the security guard open the door directly, which is very convenient. Breakfast is relatively simple, the pot cover noodles are a feature ～

I took my parents to Zhenjiang for a weekend trip and stayed at Shuxiang Mansion Hotel. This hotel is located in Xijindu, a historical ancient street in Zhenjiang, and is very close to the famous ”Three Mountains” (Jinshan, Jiaoshan, and Beigushan), making it very convenient for travel. The guest rooms of Shuxiang Mansion Hotel are distributed in Bao's Money House and Yuntai Tower built during the Republic of China period. Mr. Sun Yat-sen once stayed and gave a speech here, with a rich historical and cultural heritage. The guest room facilities are high-end and exquisite, with an antique style, which is exactly what my parents want. The four of us lived in the two-bedroom and one-living room on the ground floor of Bao's Money House. There was a patio at the entrance, which was ventilated and easy to light. The layout of the hall is like a study, with all the four treasures of the study. Dad put down his luggage and spread out the paper and wrote quickly. The hotel front desk was very considerate and said that Hanfu could be borrowed for free. Mom was very happy and immediately borrowed a set of Hanfu to take pictures in the elegant environment. The breakfast is a set meal for each person (one bowl of pot-lid noodles + one crab meat steamed bun, one fresh meat steamed bun, one vegetable bun, one marinated egg and braised meat, the noodles and steamed buns are freshly cooked) + semi-self-service, with fruits, salads, bread, coffee, pickles, and millet porridge. The hotel rooms are not only well-equipped, but also warm-hearted, which can be reflected in the details. When guests check in, the service staff will carry their luggage to the room for them, and explain in detail how to use the facilities. The room has already been filled with welcome fruits. In addition, freshly cooked Tremella soup will be delivered in the evening, making people feel at home.

Zhenjiang is my father's hometown. I once passed by on a business trip in the late 1990s. I remember that time I only visited Jinshan Temple. So this time I came to Zhenjiang after retirement. I read the Zhenjiang travel guide on Xiaohongshu, which recommended staying in hotels in the Xijindu area. So I searched on Ctrip and found that there were many hotels with good locations in Xijindu, and it was almost difficult to choose. After comprehensive consideration, I chose Shuxiang Xinbo Hotel. Among the hotels with a rating of 4.5 or above, I prefer the design style of the hotel, which is a combination of traditional and new designs. I was just worried that there would be no parking spaces for self-driving tours (the reviews said that there were few parking spaces at the door), so I contacted the hotel in advance to confirm the parking spaces. They said that there were still parking spaces at the door, and the hotel had another parking lot nearby, so there was no need to worry. Fortunately, we were able to park at the door for the two nights we stayed. Probably because of the off-season, I booked a double bed room, and the hotel upgraded it to a suite for free, with an elevator (the hotel was renovated from an old house in the Republic of China, and the building is about 4 or 5 floors high). The suite has a living room + cloakroom + standard king-size bed room. The space is relatively large and clean. The 2-meter-wide bed has good bedding, soft and comfortable, very nice. In addition to the standard toiletries, the bathroom is also equipped with a bathtub film. This is the only one we have seen in the multiple hotels we have stayed in since we drove all the way from Guangzhou. For this reason, this is also the only time we dare to take a bath in the bathtub in the hotel to relieve fatigue. The plastic slippers in the room need to be called to the front desk (this is the experience gained from this self-driving tour). The little robot will send the slippers up and will notify by phone. It is silent when walking and does not disturb people. It is very cute. Looking at the comments, there are criticisms about the electric control switch in the room. Sure enough, the design of the electric control switch is too alternative and niche, and the operation is not intuitive. You can only grope for the buttons. It feels that it is not suitable for hotel use, especially for the elderly. However, the switch is a small flaw and has little impact. Overall, the hotel experience is still very good and cost-effective.

It was our first time to come to Zhenjiang. It was a place where our ancestors once lived. There were many things we didn’t understand. Fortunately, we met two friendly and professional front desk staff in the evening shift. They taught us a lot of knowledge and helped us find delicious noodles. and how to take a ride, etc. These all made us feel the enthusiasm of our old family, thank you very much. The ride-hailing driver even took us on a ferry and saw the majestic Yangtze River up close, which was very fun. The room is very spacious and comfortable, and there is a large floor-to-ceiling window where you can see the scenery at different times, which is very beautiful. The breakfast was also delicious. It was the first time to eat so many kinds of pickles, which was very interesting. Hope to have the opportunity to visit again in the future~

The boss service is better, the homestay is in the scenic area, very convenient. However, the room is on the first floor, close to the street outside the window, and five meters outside the window is a very busy public bathroom, resulting in the room unable to open the window, which also affects the mood. In the early morning, you will hear the voice of tourists outside the window, the alarm sound of battery cars, etc., affecting the rest.

The room facilities are new ~ the area is large ~ the sanitation is particularly clean ~ the surrounding environment is quiet ~ the geographical location is between Xijindu and Jinshan Temple ~ parking is convenient ~ the first choice for friends who travel by car ~ the breakfast is very good ~ the parents in their eighties are always taken care of by the store when traveling, ~ here I would like to thank Xiao Liu and Xiao Zhao who were on duty that day ~ ㊗️The hotel business is booming!
