Jiaxing, I've returned, and it was a tough experience. Sisters who plan to go, please reconsider.

"Where Wu and Yue cultures meet, the water town of Jiaxing, with gently swaying boats and oars, is filled with poetic charm." Jiaxing, a picturesque Jiangnan water town, is like a warm and lustrous pearl, exuding captivating charm. March, with the return of spring, is the perfect time to embark on a wonderful 48-hour journey to Jiaxing. 👇 📍Day 1: Encounter the charm of the ancient water town and savor the tenderness of Jiangnan 1️⃣ Wuzhen East Scenic Area Stepping into Wuzhen East Scenic Area is like traveling back in time. In March, the chill of winter fades in Wuzhen, a gentle breeze blows, and ripples appear on the water's surface. Walking along the bluestone paths, you'll see Ming and Qing dynasty buildings with white walls and black tiles, their wooden doors and window lattices exquisitely carved, showcasing a simple and elegant style. Wandering through the old streets and alleys, you might see elderly people in blue printed clothes basking in the sun, enjoying the tranquility of time. Walk to the riverside, board a swaying boat, and with a shout from the boatman, the boat gently glides into the waterway. The ancient houses and weeping willows on both sides slowly recede, as if you are in a painting. 📸Photo Tips: On the ancient bridge of Wuzhen, with the flowing water and passing boats below as your backdrop, dress in elegant ancient costumes, hold an oil-paper umbrella, turn slightly sideways, and capture a gentle moment, freezing a scene like an ink painting. Or sit at the bow of the swaying boat, with the ancient buildings and swaying willow branches along the shore as your background, close your eyes gently, feel the breeze on your face, and take a leisurely and carefree picture, showcasing the tenderness of Jiangnan. 2️⃣ Mu Xin Art Museum Adjacent to Wuzhen East Scenic Area, the Mu Xin Art Museum is like a pearl of art. The museum houses a large collection of Mu Xin's paintings and literary works, with every step offering a scenic view, filled with artistic atmosphere. Amidst the interplay of light and shadow in the art museum, appreciate Mr. Mu's paintings, read his words, and feel the talent and philosophical thoughts that transcend time and space, as if engaging in a spiritual dialogue with him. 3️⃣ Wuzhen West Scenic Area (Evening) In the evening, arrive at Wuzhen West Scenic Area. The afterglow of the setting sun casts a golden veil over the entire West Scenic Area. The lights gradually illuminate the area, complementing the sunset glow in the sky, creating a dreamlike scene. Stroll through the streets and alleys of the West Scenic Area, where the aroma of street food stalls fills the air. Try a piece of Dingsheng Cake, soft, glutinous, sweet, and melts in your mouth, filled with the flavors of Jiangnan. Find a riverside cafe, sit down, watch the water town night scene outside the window, with boats passing by on the river and lights illuminating the houses on the opposite bank, and experience the unique charm of Jiangnan. 📍Day 2: Gallop through the picturesque scenery and enjoy the vitality of spring 1️⃣ South Lake In the morning, head to South Lake. In March, the water of South Lake is crystal clear, and the weeping willows along the shore are lush and green. Take a boat to the island in the center of the lake, enjoying the refreshing breeze on your face along the way. Land on the island, pay respects to the Red Boat, listen to the magnificent history, and feel the inheritance and power of the Red spirit. The Yan Yu Lou on the island, with its ancient charm, flying eaves, and upturned corners, looks even more serene under the shade of green trees. Standing on the building, you can overlook the panoramic view of South Lake, taking in the picturesque scenery. 📸Photo Tips: Beside the Red Boat on South Lake, with the Red Boat as your background, dress in simple casual clothes, with a solemn expression, and capture a moment of remembrance, cherishing the spirit of the predecessors. Or stand on the second-floor viewing platform of Yan Yu Lou, with the vast South Lake and distant mountains as your background, open your arms, and capture a moment of embracing the picturesque scenery, showcasing your vitality and vigor. 2️⃣ Meihua Zhou (Plum Blossom Island) Leave South Lake and head to Meihua Zhou. March is the season when plum blossoms are in full bloom. The plum blossoms on Meihua Zhou are in full bloom, red and white intertwined, with a faint fragrance, like a paradise. Stroll among the ancient temples, old streets, and plum groves, breathe in the fresh air with the fragrance of flowers, and feel the vibrant life of spring. There are also traditional handicraft shops here. Step into the shops, admire the exquisite Jiaxing embroidery and simple bamboo weaving, and experience the charm of folk art. 3️⃣ Jiaxing City (Dinner) In the evening, return to Jiaxing City. The city is bustling with activity. Head to the Yuehe Historic District, where various Jiaxing specialties are gathered, such as Jiaxing Zongzi and South Lake water chestnuts, making your mouth water. Find a time-honored restaurant, sit down, and savor the authentic cuisine, reminiscing about your Jiaxing trip while enjoying the delicious food, bringing a perfect end to these 48 hours. 🏨[Accommodation Recommendations] It is recommended to stay in or near the Wuzhen Scenic Area, which allows you to deeply experience the tranquility and charm of the water town and makes it convenient for morning and evening strolls through the ancient town, experiencing its beauty at different times. Jiaxing City offers a variety of accommodation options with convenient transportation, making it easy to visit attractions such as South Lake. 🚗[Transportation Tips] Jiaxing has convenient transportation. No wonder the ancient emperors and knights loved to come to Jiangnan, it's so beautiful.

No wonder the ancient emperors and knights loved to come to Jiangnan, it's so beautiful.

Jiangnan is a poetic and picturesque place, like a bright pearl, shining on the land of China. The beauty of Jiangnan lies in its lively water. The crisscrossing rivers and quiet lakes flow like ribbons. The awning boat slowly slides across the water, causing ripples, as if telling an ancient story. The spring rain is like silk, falling on the water, causing misty water vapor, dreamlike. In summer, the lotus leaves are in the fields, and the lotus flowers stand upright, adding a touch of gorgeous color to the water of Jiangnan. The beauty of Jiangnan also lies in its ancient buildings. The white-walled and gray-tiled houses are arranged in a staggered manner by the river. The horse-head wall stands tall, showing the unique charm of Jiangnan architecture. The ancient stone bridge spans the river, and the traces of the years are engraved on the stone, witnessing the historical changes of Jiangnan. The garden is the treasure of Jiangnan, pavilions, rockeries, ponds, flowers, plants and trees are all carefully arranged, with a view at every step, making people feel like they are in a fairyland. The beauty of Jiangnan also lies in its gentle style. The women of Jiangnan are as fresh and beautiful as hibiscus, with soft Wu dialect and gentle turns. They are dressed in cheongsam, holding oil-paper umbrellas, walking on the bluestone road, and becoming a beautiful landscape in Jiangnan. The people of Jiangnan live a leisurely pace of life, drinking tea, chatting, and playing chess by the river, enjoying the tranquility and beauty of life. Jiangnan is a melodious poem, a gorgeous painting, and a moving song. Its beauty is intoxicating, memorable, and unforgettable. No matter when and where, Jiangnan always has its own.

Colorful Yaozhuang•Jiang Xiaojue Paradise | A summer treasure spot for taking kids out to cool off

Colorful Yaozhuang•Jiang Xiaojue Paradise | A summer treasure spot for taking kids out to cool off

| A summer treasure spot for taking kids out to cool off.📍Address: Jiang Xiaojue Paradise, Chenxiang Village, Yaozhuang Town, Jiashan County, Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province 🚗Shanghai: 30 minutes from Qingpu, 40 minutes from Songjiang, 1.5 hours from the city center (rich in surrounding places for kids to play) 🅿️Parking: Free (plenty of spaces) 🌊Water Play Area The park has lots of places for water play. My little brother loves the water slides the most, exclaiming how fun they are. They're not hot or sunny, the slides aren't too steep, and there are floating mats at the bottom for safety measures, so you can play with peace of mind. There are shouting pools, dynamic water storage pools, water guns, etc., a variety of water games to play non-stop. 🏖Swimming Pool The swimming pool is divided into three areas, from shallow to deep, suitable for children of all ages. The water is probably not deep for safety reasons, with the deep area reaching just above an adult's knees. There are toilets next to the swimming pool, and there are showers inside the toilets for bathing and changing clothes. 🦕Sand Play Area The park has a huge sand play area with air bounce balls, manual excavators, swings, and a series of sand play equipment, allowing children to play happily in the sand non-stop. 🕌Huge Castle Slide Suitable for children over 3 years old, the castle climbing net is a challenge that my 4-year-old brother climbed without pressure, finding it very fun. There's also a huge slide, which my little brother was a bit scared to slide down at first, but after encouragement, he couldn't stop sliding. ⭐️The super long slide can get very hot after being exposed to the sun, so parents must pay attention to the temperature of the slide. We went there at 4:5 when the sun wasn't too fierce, and it wasn't hot anymore. At noon during high temperatures, if children's clothes are rolled up, their skin can get burned!!! 🧗‍♀️Path of the Brave Some shallow water boardwalks are suitable for children, and it's recommended to walk them all. The water floats are a lot of fun. 🍦Catering There's only a car snack bar in the park that sells grilled sausages, water, ice cream, swimsuits, swimming trunks, swimming rings, and sand digging tools. There's no restaurant. You can order takeout to be delivered, set up tents, and it's recommended to bring your own food. ⭐️Essentials for Taking Kids Water guns, swimsuits, slippers, sunscreen, sun hats, bath towels, a set of clean clothes, and for smaller kids, maybe prepare two sets.

A Grand Appreciation of Ming and Qing Dynasty Bronze Mirrors, a treasure of Chinese bronze art

A Grand Appreciation of Ming and Qing Dynasty Bronze Mirrors, a treasure of Chinese bronze art

Mirrors are used for grooming, adjusting headwear, self-reflection, and also serve purposes such as exorcising evil spirits, praying for blessings, giving gifts, weddings, funerals, and divining auspiciousness ('mirror listening'), and they are witnesses to the rise and fall of eras. Brides are required to kneel and bow to the bronze mirror and jade, with bowing to the mirror symbolizing a prayer for peace. The Qin King's mirror also reveals the political function of bronze mirrors in distinguishing loyalty from treachery and deterring officials. During the Tang Dynasty, chariots, palaces, and temples also hung bronze mirrors, and it is recorded that the Da Ming Palace's Qingsi Hall in Chang'an City used a large number of bronze mirrors for decoration. The practice of inscribing messages on the back of mirrors began in the Han Dynasty, with cryptic phrases, prayers for ascension to immortality, and the Taoist concept of eternal life becoming common themes in mirror inscriptions. The Shangfang Ming mirror was an imperial mirror from the Han Dynasty, extremely popular during the Xin Mang and early Eastern Han periods. The inscription 'Ri You Xi' was a common auspicious phrase used in the late Western Han Dynasty's connected arc pattern bronze mirrors. Sunlight mirrors commonly have two types of inscriptions, 'Seeing the light of the sun, the world is bright' and 'Seeing the light of the sun, never forget each other'. The Zhaoming mirror was a type of Han mirror popular from the reign of Emperor Xuan of Han to before the Xin Mang. The inscriptions often read 'Inner purity and quality to illuminate brightly, radiance resembling the sun and moon, the heart soars with loyalty, yet remains discreet and does not leak.' Bronze mirrors with story themes began in the Han Dynasty, with Han Dynasty divine figure mirrors often depicting myths of Dong Wanggong and Xi Wangmu to pray for ascension to immortality. Holding the position of one of the Three Excellencies was the ultimate goal for those seeking glory and wealth. During the Tang, Song, Jin, and Yuan dynasties, bronze mirrors often depicted historical allusions to illustrate the principles of being in the world. Examples include 'The Ox of Wu Panted at the Moon', 'Bo Ya and Zi Qi', 'Xu You and Chao Fu', 'Zhenzi Flying Frost (Hou Jin Playing the Guqin)', and 'Five Sons Ascending the Exams (Dou Yujun)'.

Yuehe Historic Street: A Living Legacy by the Water

#discoverchina Once part of the ancient Grand Canal over 1,700 years ago, Yuehe Historic Street carries the essence of old Jiaxing. Built alongside the water, its white walls, grey-tiled roofs, and charming bridges create a picture-perfect cultural retreat. Today, the street buzzes with energy—traditional snacks, cozy bars, and a lively flower-and-bird market add layers of vibrancy to its historic charm. And if there’s one thing you must try here, it’s Jiaxing’s famous rice dumplings. The flavors speak of tradition, and you can even dive into their history at the dedicated Zongzi Museum. A taste of heritage awaits in every corner. 🌉🏮✨

Traveling Across China with Kids - Jiaxing

Traveling Across China with Kids - Jiaxing

A 2017 baby, now 7 years old, and this is her 6th year seeing China. Yes, since she was a few months old, I've been taking her on trips all over the country (mostly self-driving) without ever going abroad, because there's so much to see in our beautiful homeland! Today, let's take a look at Jiaxing. Starting from Hangzhou, it takes just 30 minutes to get there at the fastest. We plan to visit the free Yuehe Historical District, so we chose to get off at Jiaxing Station. From there, you can take a taxi or a tram to the district, which is very convenient (around 10 yuan by taxi, 2 yuan by tram). Yuehe District is quite easy to stroll around. There's even a hotel under a certain brand (with a playground, recommended to stay if the price is right). On the other side of the district, there's a small flower and bird market. The street also has many affordable and delicious sticky rice cakes. We bought a bunch, very cost-effective! We took the child to the Zongzi Museum, where there are various types of zongzi. She learned how zongzi are wrapped and was very interested. We bought a freshly wrapped zongzi to try, and it was really good. Jiaxing is indeed the place for zongzi. If you want to check in and take photos at a church, you can walk out of the ancient street towards Shaonian Road (it should be lively at night, a bit sunny during the day). Shaonian Road is a popular spot for photos, with many young ladies taking pictures. After taking photos, you can take the tram next to it back to the train station to return to Hangzhou. You can choose to go to Jiaxing Station or Jiaxing South Station (South Station is farther away).
