Visitors can tour breweries producing shochu, sake, wine, and beer, and enjoy free tastings. The Sake Bath is a unique hot spring infused with sake. Soaking in the sake-infused water while sipping shochu heated in bamboo tubes by hot sand feels like heaven. Shusen-no-Mori is also famous for its traditional craft village, where visitors can not only observe but also participate in hands-on experiences in workshops for glass crafts, woodworking, and more. A Serendipitous Journey to the Hidden Waterfall Initially, our journey was to visit the famous Aya Teruha Suspension Bridge, one of Japan's largest pedestrian suspension bridges. Spanning a verdant valley with a deep stream below, the bridge sways gently in the breeze, lifting your spirits as you cross. It wasn’t until a local, upon hearing our interest in "hidden spots," smiled and pointed to an almost invisible black dot on the map, saying, "That’s Chihiro Falls. You won’t find it on GPS; you’ll need your eyes and heart to guide you." Following his directions, we discovered the entrance. Driving required extra attention: a tiny wooden sign and a small torii gate that could easily be mistaken for decoration. If not for careful observation, it would be easy to miss. Beyond the torii lies a narrow mountain path, almost invisible, accessible only on foot. But it takes less than a minute. Rounding a mountain wall, Chihiro Falls suddenly appears, dreamlike and ethereal. Cascading from a towering cliff, the waterfall seems to touch the sky, its mist as delicate as silk. The rocks beneath are slick like mirrors, and the crystal-clear spring water beckons you to immerse yourself in its embrace. A Natural Baptism We carefully navigated the rocks and stepped into the water. Even in midsummer, the water was refreshingly cool but not biting, like a cup of nectar offered by the mountains. Below the waterfall lies a natural pool, a sacred basin seemingly guarded by mountain spirits. Mist swirls around, gently caressing your skin, not with a sting but with an invigorating touch. As the waterfall’s droplets hit your face, closing your eyes in that moment washes away all urban fatigue, hurried schedules, and mental noise.
