Zaab is a fusion restaurant that hits your cravings for both Asian food and western food at once! Located in the heart of Canberra, the restaurant is beautifully decorated with neon signs and cool Asian graffiti. The food was truly unique! I stayed in Braddon. i liked walking to Northbourne Ave to try many kinds of food and do some shops. The weather is great not too cold when I went there in September. I also enjoy walking to Haig Park. The area is more of a place to relax, picnic, exercise or walk the dog. Enjoy nature and fresh air. The location is fantastic, situated near Braddon and the city centre. The rooms are spacious and luxurious, featuring very comfortable beds, and the hotel boasts a relaxed vibe. Everything was clean, the staff were kind and helpful, and overall it offered great value for money, especially given its central setting.

My father and I visited Canberra to attend a sporting event and explore the new extension of the War Memorial. For convenience, we prefer interconnecting rooms when traveling. While I usually book through the ALL App, this time I spoke with a lovely woman over the phone who was very helpful and made sure we got the room we needed. During check-in, we found no parking spaces out front, so we used the back carpark. Unfortunately, accessing reception became tricky as we didn’t have a key for the doors. The overall check-in experience was fine. However, my Diamond Loyalty status wasn’t mentioned, which is typically standard, though we did receive a property map and the necessary information. We initially booked a Standard Room but believe we were upgraded to an Executive Room. The room was very spacious, with a modernized bathroom, and the wooden furniture aligned nicely with the hotel’s style. We had breakfast at the hotel all three mornings and dined there twice during our stay. Breakfast on Sunday had several issues, which I addressed directly with the F&B Manager, Troy. However, Monday and Tuesday breakfasts went smoothly, thanks to Phoebe, who kept the buffet and tables well-maintained. Overall, we enjoyed our dinners, as there was a great variety of dishes. The only downside was the chicken & chorizo risotto—it lacked flavor and came off bland. On the other hand, the schnitzels and steaks were cooked perfectly. In conclusion, our stay at Mercure Canberra was very comfortable, and we’d definitely choose to stay here again.

Fantastic experience. The staff were lovely, polite, and friendly. The room was excellent—absolutely no faults. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom was great. Breakfast was fantastic with plenty of options. We enjoyed dinner at the restaurant for two consecutive nights because the food was that good. Highly recommend and will definitely return. Upon arrival, the hotel staff greeted us warmly. We stayed for four nights in a one-bedroom apartment that was both clean and spacious. The king-sized bed ensured we had great sleep each night. Throughout our stay, we lacked for nothing. The hotel also provides on-site parking, a 24-hour gym, and an on-site restaurant and bar with a happy hour from 4-6 pm, all staffed by friendly and helpful team members. This was our first visit to the Deco, and it definitely won’t be our last. Well done to the team!

This hotel offers an excellent location, clean and spacious rooms, great staff, and a very good restaurant and bar. Although I didn’t use the gym, it appeared to be quite good. My room had a west-facing view overlooking Northbourne Avenue. The city was just a five-minute walk away.

I always choose to stay at AVENUE hotel whenever I visit Canberra, whether alone or with friends. I even recommend it to others. The hotel offers a nice view from the rooms, which are clean, spacious, and conveniently located near everything. However, I wish visitors could access the lobby so we wouldn't need to come down to meet them. Additionally, the breakfast could cater more to Asian preferences, like including rice. Last Saturday, I asked Jen for 2 boiled eggs and waited 10 minutes. I followed up with two male staff, but after waiting for 30 minutes without receiving the eggs, I finally decided to leave. :(

Whenever friends visit Canberra, besides asking me where to spot kangaroos, their next question is usually: "Are there any good cafes worth checking out?" If I had to recommend just one neighborhood, I'd pick Kingston almost every time. Compared to the bustling energy of Braddon or the hipster vibe of NewActon, Kingston feels much more lived-in. Taking a stroll along the Kingston Foreshore and then finding a cafe to sit down at makes for an incredibly relaxing morning. This time around, I went with Dockside Cafe. I ordered two of their signature dishes—the squid ink seafood pasta and the black truffle grilled cheese sandwich. The squid ink pasta was a pleasant surprise. The sauce was rich without being overly salty, and it came with a generous portion of seafood. The umami from the squid ink paired perfectly with the garlic—definitely not a dish that just relies on its looks. As for the black truffle grilled cheese, it’s a simple dish but hard to mess up. The bread was toasted to a perfect crisp, the cheese was melted just right, and the black truffle aroma wasn't overpowering. Paired with a cup of coffee, it made for a really satisfying brunch. If you're looking for cafes in Kingston, I have two other personal recommendations. Early Edition consistently serves up great coffee and is a highly popular breakfast spot among locals. If you're looking for something a bit quieter, Local Press is a solid option. Their fresh juices and coffee are great, making it an ideal spot for a casual bite. If I had to rank them: 🥇 Dockside Cafe — Best views, widest breakfast selection, and consistently fast service. 🥈 Early Edition — Best known for its coffee, perfect for a slow, laid-back chat. 🥉 Local Press — Less crowded, making it great for larger group gatherings. When traveling in Canberra, finding a cafe you love by the lake, sitting for a whole morning, and watching people jog, walk their dogs, or kayak is one of the best ways to experience the slow-paced lifestyle of this city. 📍Dockside Cafe, Early Edition, Local Press | Kingston, Canberra ☕ Personal tip: If it's your first time in Kingston, I highly suggest grabbing brunch at Dockside Cafe first, then taking a stroll along the Kingston Foreshore—it’s the perfect way to spend a morning.

There are two Mantra Hotels in Canberra, so make sure to double-check your booking. Since I had appointments in the CBD/Civic area, I aimed to book the Mantra Northbourne for its convenient location near the city center. However, I mistakenly reserved a room at the Macarthur, which is approximately 2.5 km further up Northbourne Avenue. It was my error, but I moved past it quickly. During my two-night stay, I found the Macarthur to be excellent in every aspect. Check-in was both friendly and efficient, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. Everything functioned seamlessly! While the restaurant menu was somewhat limited, it didn’t pose any issues for me.

The location is very convenient, being close to the light rail station and within walking distance to the city, and the price is reasonable. The room is very clean and even includes various cookware, making it possible for guests to cook their own meals. It is generally a quiet place, perfect for a good night's sleep. I highly recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Canberra.

I really enjoyed the day. I had been on a similar tour to Canberra 40 years ago, but it was definitely worth revisiting. This time, the trip included Mount Ainslie, which offers an extensive view of the city. We also visited the Australian War Memorial, National Museum, and Parliament House. Morning tea was at Heatherbrae's Pies on the Hume Highway, where the pies were delicious. A special thank you to our driver and tour guide Fernando for making the day so enjoyable.

Hadn't stayed here in years and decided to book despite some negative reviews. Got a deal through Luxury Escapes, and maybe the timing was favorable, but I found all the staff to be welcoming and helpful. The room was very comfortable, and the buffet breakfast was more than adequate. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay. While I remained attentive to potential negatives, none applied to our experience. The location was good, just a 10-12 minute walk to downtown. Definitely plan to stay again.

This hotel has been around for decades and remains under the same family ownership—a true Canberra landmark. Over the years, it has seen many updates and even hosted LBJ, the American president, during his visit. The staff are consistently courteous and friendly, and the food is great for a hotel of this caliber. Hot showers are readily available without long waits, the beds are incredibly comfortable, and there's a 50-inch TV. Highly recommend for a stay in Canberra!

This hotel has received a few negative reviews recently, and I can't understand why. It's an excellent place to stay with all the essentials you could ask for. Sure, the rooms may feel a bit old-fashioned, but this doesn’t affect the experience in a bad way. Don’t let the critics discourage you! We stayed in a 2-bedroom apartment, which was fantastic. It included 2 bathrooms, a washing machine and dryer, a dining table, a microwave, a full fridge plus a mini fridge, a lounge suite/sofa bed, and both a king and queen bed. The room was cleaned daily, and the housekeeping team was very accommodating to our needs (e.g., leaving the bed unmade or providing an extra towel). The buffet breakfast was generous and tasty. While it’s not a fancy 5-star dining affair, it offered all the usual breakfast staples and was a pleasant way to start the day. We left feeling full every morning! The parking garage entrance and exit are a bit tight—but, as long as you take it slow, there’s no problem. Overall, we found the Mantra on Northbourne an excellent place to stay, with a fantastic location surrounded by plenty of shops and dining options. We would gladly come back without hesitation.

I arrived at a Superior king room around 7 pm and was feeling a bit hungry. Due to work obligations, I needed to head back to the room and couldn’t place a room service order online. Unfortunately, the phone was not functioning, so I had to return to reception. They attempted to resolve the issue but were unsuccessful, so I had to switch rooms. They upgraded me to a one-bedroom apartment immediately and were extremely pleasant. Excellent service and superb rooms. The restaurant food is outstanding too. I'll always choose this place when visiting Canberra.

We spent four nights in the Superior King Room on our recent trip to Canberra. The hotel is centrally located, making it easy to walk to various restaurants and pubs. Our room was spacious and featured a balcony that overlooked the courtyard between Tower One and Tower Two. It was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. We opted for the buffet breakfast at a special rate and were pleased with the selection available. The room's mini bar is stocked with drinks and snacks. If you plan on bringing your own, I suggest requesting the reception to deactivate the mini bar, allowing you to remove a shelf of drinks without getting charged and use the space for your own items. The hotel also offers a deal where you can skip daily servicing in return for a $10 voucher at Marble & Grain. Our room package included parking, which was fantastic. We would consider staying here again when in Canberra.

We were thrilled with our stay at these newly opened apartments in a very convenient central spot. Our unit featured two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a charming balcony area with outdoor seating. It offered a full kitchen equipped with plenty of utensils and cookware for meals, along with some useful basics in the cupboard (like salt, pepper, olive oil, and foil). We enjoyed a beautiful view of Mount Ainslie, had a guaranteed spot in secure undercover parking, and were just one block from the Canberra Centre shopping mall. The beds were comfortable, and the apartment was tastefully decorated. Laundry facilities are available for longer stays. Service from Monde, our Urban Rest contact, was superb—he met us on our arrival, handed us the keys along with parking instructions, and escorted us to the apartment. He even turned on the heating before we got there, so it was warm and welcoming.
