Markham travel guide and discussion

Recently, I came across an event that I’m super excited about: the FIRA RoboWorld Cup 2026 Robot World Cup Carnival! This is the first time this globally renowned robotics competition is being held in Canada. The event dates are: 📅 July 17-21, 2026 📍 Markham Pan Am Centre This event is not just a robot competition; it’s more like a large-scale international tech carnival✨ According to the introduction, teams and robot groups from over 20 countries will come to Canada. Besides watching various robot competitions and AI interactive experiences, there will also be: 🍔 International Food Festival 🎤 Outdoor stage performances 🎮 Interactive gaming experiences 🎁 On-site prize draws 🌎 Five themed cultural nights Including: 🍁 Canada Night 🏮 Asian Night 💃 Latino Night 🌙 Middle East Night 🤖 FIRA Night It feels like a perfect blend of technology, culture, food, and entertainment. What I’m most looking forward to is the robot competitions! Usually, I can only watch robot soccer matches and AI robot contests in videos, but this time I finally have the chance to experience the tech atmosphere live. Plus, the event runs from 9 AM to 9 PM, for a full 5 days, which feels perfect for visiting with family and friends. Mark your calendars in advance📌

#bestplacestowatchfootball Looking for a lively spot to catch the World Cup in the north of the city? This place definitely tops the list. The atmosphere is amazing, with a giant projector screen and multiple TVs from every angle, so you won’t miss a second of the match. It’s the perfect place to gather with friends and family, enjoy the game, grab some skewers, and sip on a cold beer. The menu is packed with authentic Northeastern Chinese dishes, and here’s what we tried: ✨ Spicy Stir-Fried Clams Fresh, flavorful, and satisfyingly spicy—the perfect dish if you love a little heat. ✨ Mao Xue Wang A generous portion loaded with duck blood, black fish fillets, luncheon meat, and more. Everything was fresh, and the broth got spicier with every bite. One of our favorites! ✨ Dry-Fried Green Beans Freshly wok-fried with minced pork, giving them an irresistible smoky aroma. A great dish to enjoy with rice. ✨ Stir-Fried Instant Noodles If you don’t eat spicy food, this is a must-order. Slightly tangy, incredibly comforting, and definitely a carb lover’s dream. ✨ Candied Sweet Potatoes Beautifully presented with delicate sugar strands that make the dish look almost magical—and it tastes just as sweet. ✨ Mouthwatering Chicken & Chilled Cucumber 🥒 Both are refreshing cold appetizers that pair perfectly with the richer dishes. 💛 One of the coolest surprises? You can even customize the design on your drink foam with your own image or message! 🏆 Number One Bistro & Sports Bar 📍 1-3760 Highway 7, Unionville

Although I just discovered it too 😂 Right by Hwy 7, you can come here to experience it before heading to Unionville or Langham Place for a meal. This time I came alone, and I’ll tell my friends if the experience is good. I tried the solo massage + 90-minute foot reflexology combo for 90🔪, which is quite cost-effective and the duration is just right. Not many Chinese people have been here; most are foreigners. They have single rooms, double rooms, and foot reflexology rooms. I started with the foot reflexology, and it was so comfortable I didn’t want to get up. The pressure was just right, not painful enough to make you grimace. The body massage focused on the usually tired areas. I’ve had quite a few massages lately, and I always ask the therapist to focus on my shoulders and neck. Not only did the muscles loosen up, but my sleep quality also improved! Plus, most services support insurance 😇😇 Wellness

I GET THE HYPE NOWWW. Have you tried this spot?! I feel like I’m the last one to try it here bc I didn’t wanna line up when they first opened 😂 Also congrats on opening the Mississauga location now you guys can try it on the West end too @gyuyaki.mississauga 🎉 . . . #ayce #allyoucaneat #japanesebbq #toronto #torontofood #torontofoodie #markham #markhamfood #mississauga#canadatrip

#2026New Year's Greetings The moment I stepped foot into Unionville, I felt as if I had stepped back in time. The old buildings stood elegantly, their unique colors shining through, and a romantic atmosphere permeated every alleyway. I sat in a cafe, sipping coffee, and gazed out the window at the scenery. The sound of people's laughter and footsteps breathed life into the quiet town. As I wandered through the art shops, a variety of works caught my eye. Occasionally, musical performances took place in the town square, creating a lively atmosphere. My day in Unionville was filled with romance and nostalgia.

Stepping into Milne Dam Conservation Park in Markham, the golden maple leaves of early autumn resemble a radiant ocean of gold, leaving me breathless in awe. Sunlight filters through the treetops, illuminating the scattered leaves on the ground, and the golden glow instantly brightens the surroundings, as if each leaf is shimmering with light 🌟🍂. Walking along the pathways carpeted with maple leaves, the gentle sound of the breeze whispers the secrets of autumn. The vibrant golden hues exude vitality, allowing me to feel the boundless charm of nature. Touching the leaves lightly, their soft texture intertwined with the refreshing autumn breeze fills my heart with tranquility and joy 🍃💛. Sitting quietly on a lakeside bench, gazing at the golden reflections on the water's surface, I am filled with gratitude. Every moment here is a celebration of beauty, and the distant mountain silhouettes appear even more majestic against the golden backdrop. I deeply realize that this is a masterpiece of nature, evoking a profound sense of awe ✨🏞️. The golden maple leaves of Milne Dam Conservation Park are not only a symbol of autumn but also an expression of love for life. Amidst this breathtaking scenery, I feel an inner peace and contentment that will remain an eternal memory in the depths of my soul 🌈🌍.

In late autumn, this small town unexpectedly brings a sense of warmth and quiet happiness. The leaves throughout the community have turned completely red, with fiery hues shining under the blue sky. Walking down the streets feels like strolling through a painting, and every casual photo captures a stunning scene. Not only can you enjoy breathtaking autumn scenery, but if you're lucky, you might also encounter cats and dogs basking in the sun on the streets. The city and nature blend seamlessly, creating a comfortable and healing atmosphere! The streets are lined with autumn trees in shades of red, orange, and yellow, interspersed with small shops. Some cafes even have outdoor seating, and it's highly recommended to sit down, enjoy a cup of coffee, and quietly take in the view.

A little above Toronto is Unionville. It's a European-style town with lots of cute shops! Especially the main street is lined with stylish cafes and restaurants, so no matter where you take a photo, it's sure to look great on Instagram! The gelato here is famous, so you should definitely go! For lunch, I went to Il Postino, where the mushroom pasta was delicious and unforgettable. Please be sure to visit here too. It's about an hour from Toronto on the Go train, so if you like the European atmosphere, I recommend it. #Canada #Toronto #SummerShortTrip #100TravelStyles

The guide to enjoying fall colors in downtown Toronto is here again—Milne Dam Conversation Park, this park is absolutely fantastic for fall foliage! ❤ The park is located in Markham, about a half-hour drive from downtown Toronto. The park is huge, and it would probably take half a day to walk through it 😂, but it's only a 2-3 minute walk from the parking lot 🅿️ to where I took the photos. It's a great place for skateboarding, cycling 🚵🏻‍♂️, and so on. Walking along the path through the maple forests is incredibly beautiful. It's perfect for family and friends gatherings because on weekends, there are a lot of people gathering in the park for barbecues and such, and the aroma is so tempting. 😍 🗺️ Park Name: Milne Dam Conversation Park 🗺️ ⏰ Opening Hours: 24 hours ⏰ 🎫 Admission: Free 🆓. 🎫 🚘 About Transportation: There is a bus that goes there, and it's about a 10-minute walk from the bus stop. If you're driving, parking 🅿️ is also free. 🚘 ⭐ The park is very close to Markville Shopping Centre, so if you're hungry after visiting the park, there are plenty of good eats nearby. ⭐

To continue our evening run, this time we visit Hilton Garden Inn Toronto/Markham, 300 Commerce Valley Dr E, Thornhill, ON L3T 7X3, Canada near Richmond Hill, Toronto! After reading a lot of information online, many people said that the facilities of this hotel are incomplete, in disrepair, the attitude of the staff is not ideal and so on. I was a little nervous at first because I didn't know how the actual situation was! We started from the Fairview mall, about 15 minutes or so to have arrived at the hotel, nearby Times Square, Sheraton Plaza, there are different restaurants to choose from, walk to is enough, of course, if you drive you can go to more not The same place! Our latest trip took us to Gormley, Ontario. Though it's just a short drive from downtown Toronto, the entire town is surrounded by nature and filled with a charming rural countryside vibe 🥰. Not only can you learn about local honey and mead-making, but you can also sample sweet, pure honey products right on-site! 🌻 Highlights at a Glance This trip is perfect for families, couples, or a group of friends looking for a relaxing outing. The farm experience includes learning about bees, tasting different honeys and meads, and picking up some treats to take home. The atmosphere is super chill, especially with a light breeze at sunset—a perfect spot for photos! Parking at the entrance is convenient, and though the spot feels like a hidden sanctuary, it’s easy to find. The farm features guided tours, a small market, and a tasting area where you can sample fresh honey. The mead has beautifully layered flavors, tasting just right in terms of sweetness. Besides honey and mead, they also sell beeswax products and natural handmade soaps—great for gifts or personal use. 🔎 Pro Tips for Your Visit From my personal experience: 1. The farm isn't huge, but plan for 1.5 to 2 hours to fully enjoy the tour, tasting, and shopping. 2. Plus, there are live music performances on certain Sundays during the summer.

Canada has Toronto and Markham. But just north of the city lies a village that has preserved its 19th-century charm so perfectly it has been used as a film set for dozens of movies and TV shows. Unionville is a small settlement of Victorian storefronts, a river that winds through the center, and a landscape of tree-lined streets and quiet parks. The pace is calm. The history is deep. Here is how to explore this hidden Canadian gem and save money with Trip.com. 1. Main Street at Dawn: Victorian Charm and Silence Unionville's Main Street is a perfectly preserved stretch of Victorian buildings, old shops, and cafés with flower boxes. By 10 AM, the visitors arrive from Toronto. Come at 6 AM instead. The light is soft. The brick glows. You will walk along Main Street with only the sound of birds and the distant rush of the Rouge River. It feels like stepping onto a film set. Pro Tip: Download the Trip.com offline map for Unionville. It shows you the quietest routes through the village and the hidden viewpoints. The best photos are from the river bridge at sunrise, when the Victorian buildings reflect in the water. 2. The Rouge River: A Green Escape The Rouge River winds through Unionville, its banks lined with trails and old trees. The river is peaceful. The trails are quiet. Come in the afternoon. The light is golden, and the river shimmers. Money Hack: The river trails are free. Skip the expensive guided hikes. Walk along the shore and enjoy the peace. Check Trip.com for a "Unionville River Guide" that shows you the best trails and the quietest times to visit. 3. The Village Shops: A Step Back in Time Unionville's Main Street is lined with independent shops selling everything from books to gifts to ice cream. The shops are charming. The atmosphere is welcoming. Come early. The shops are quiet, and the light is soft. Budget Advice: The shops are free to browse. Skip the expensive guided tours. Walk from shop to shop and enjoy the village. Check Trip.com for a "Unionville Walking Tour" that includes the main street and the river. 4. Food That Tastes Like the Region Ontario country food is hearty and local. Try Butter Tarts — a Canadian classic, baked fresh in the local bakeries. Order Peach Pie — made with local Ontario peaches. And do not miss Farmhouse Cheddar — aged and sharp, from the surrounding farms. Where to Eat: Skip the expensive restaurants on Main Street. Walk into the side streets and find Café Unionville or Restoran Rouge, where locals eat. The food is fresh, and the prices are fair. Check Trip.com for set menu deals — some places include a free dessert when you book through the app. Where to Stay? Book on Trip.com a guesthouse in the village. Look for something near Main Street or the river. You will sleep in a Victorian room with a view of the water, the sound of birds at dawn, and the scent of flowers. The evenings are quiet, and the stars are bright. Conclusion: Unionville is not a place you rush through. It is a place you breathe in. It is a town of Victorian charm and river views, of film sets and quiet streets. It is a place where the past is preserved in every building. Canada is a country of many stories, and Unionville is its cinematic soul. Come and walk Main Street at dawn. The river is waiting. #trip_com #canada #unionville #unionvilletravel #canadahiddengems #ontario #victorianvillage #budgettravel #americasguide #travelcanada #RougeRiver #filmset #hiddencanada #mainstreet #historicvillage

Last time I came to my good brother's for barbecue, all the free milk skin and yogurt were gone! This time I came at noon, and I refused to believe they still weren't there! Not only was the fridge full, but they also had brand new jasmine flavor in green packaging. This milk skin is very thick and has a very rich texture. The jasmine flavor is a bit like unsweetened milk tea. Both flavors are safe to eat, and they're just as good as what you buy in the supermarket. Maybe you should open a dessert shop? The summer-limited seafood is especially satisfying! The super spicy tempting street food, originally NT$55.99, is now only NT$25.99. There are tons of crayfish, open-back prawns, clams, and scallops, served with refreshing cucumber strips and lettuce. The crayfish are full of roe and very fresh; the meat can be pulled out whole with a simple pull. Even I, who hates trouble, ate quite a bit. The Thai-style raw marinated mantis shrimp and Korean-style raw marinated crab are so convenient to eat; you don't even need to use your hands, just press your lips together, and the meat comes off like jelly! This Markham restaurant will soon have an outdoor patio for BBQ, and the World Cup will be broadcast live, both indoors and outdoors! So theoretically, a seafood stall with milk skin and yogurt is enough to while away the game! Of course, their signature skewers, sweet and sour pork, and cold noodles are still delicious—authentic Northeastern Chinese cuisine, so it's easy to order too much without realizing it! 😂

🌹I met up with a very sophisticated lady at The Village Grocer. Right at the entrance is a flowerbed and a small gazebo covered in vines where you can relax. Besides the popular Swiss roll and persimmon ice cream I've had before, the flowers here are also beautiful, and the price is reasonable. 🥩The supermarket is very densely packed, a very typical Western supermarket. There are all sorts of tempting cuts of meat, skewers, and salmon. Just buy a few and arrange them on a plate, and you've got a Michelin-starred restaurant! 🎂They also have birthday cakes in various sizes. I can consider this place as a backup option for future birthday cake purchases. The macarons selection is also plentiful, but be careful when shopping with kids. 🍦Many people recommend the popular persimmon ice cream, and Kawartha ice cream has a very complete range of flavors. 🍑The persimmon flavor is hard to find, but it's delicious and has persimmon pieces inside. 💐There are also many small tables filled with fresh flowers by the windows, perfect for coffee chats—very cozy. ☀️Wow, you don't even need to drive for over an hour to find this charming little town-style garden supermarket! Planning to bring the kids this weekend. 📍The Village Grocer 4476 16th Ave, Markham, ON L3R OM1

Approximately a 30-40 minute drive from downtown Toronto 🚙 Navigate directly to this parking lot 🅿️ 55 Twyn Rivers Dr, Scarborough, ON From the parking lot, walk along the Mast Trail or Orchard Trail 🚶‍♀️ The hike is approximately 3–5 km, with the option to turn back depending on your fitness level 🌲 The trail features forest, wooden bridges, and streams; it's easy and suitable for families with children. 🧺 There's a large lawn next to the parking lot with plenty of picnic tables under the trees, perfect for bringing your own food for a picnic 🥪🍇 🏞️ Little Rouge Creek for water play 🐟 Small fish 🦞 Ayfish ⚠️ Ayfish are prohibited from being taken out of Rouge Park. Discovered another great spot for weekend hikes! Less than 2 hours from Markham. This trail is well-maintained, nestled between mountains and water. Although there are significant elevation changes, stairs are provided in steep areas, making it easy to walk. Wooden boardwalks cover most of the trail, so you’re mostly shaded from the sun. The trail forms a loop, so there’s no need to backtrack. A small waterfall and suspension bridge are located right at the starting point. If you start from the right side, you’ll walk along brand-new wooden boardwalks and even reach a viewing platform. On the left side, there’s a small cave beneath the fountain that you can enter, though it’s not particularly cool inside. The latter part of the trail follows a creek, and you can leisurely complete the walk in under an hour. Parking 🅿️ Walk-ins are not allowed; you must drive in. Parking spaces are limited, and reservations are required. It’s recommended to arrive on time. If your reservation is from 2-4 PM but you arrive at 3:30 PM, staff will still ask you to leave by 4 PM. The trail is located in a small town, and nearby there’s a cafe selling Kawartha ice cream. The staff highly recommend the peach flavor—it’s absolutely delicious! If you’re passing by, make sure to stop at The Belfountain Cafe. 🌈 Belfountain Conservation Area Difficulty ★☆☆☆☆ Length ★☆☆☆☆

I thought I'd already tried all the good and beautiful Japanese restaurants in the north... But I never expected Unionville to hide such a gem of a Japanese restaurant! It was almost full on a weekday evening. The ambiance was comfortable and atmospheric, perfect for dates or gatherings with friends. The dishes were so beautifully presented that I couldn't help but take a bunch of photos. 🍣Sashimi & Sushi Platter: All the sashimi was thick-cut! They had sea urchin, salmon, tuna, yellowtail, sweet shrimp, scallops, and herring roe—everything was incredibly fresh! 🤤 🥪I also tried the eel tofu sandwich. It was the first time I'd seen this combination before. The tender tofu sandwiched with eel was incredibly soft and delicious—surprisingly a perfect match! 🍢They also have a variety of yakitori options. The beef tongue, chicken, and scallops were all grilled to perfection. The beef tongue was super thick-cut! Dipping it in their special yuzu salt 🍋, the subtle yuzu aroma makes it even more enjoyable with every bite! The eel rice is also great; the eel is oily and flavorful. Unionville really knows how to hide amazing restaurants! Now I have another place I'll definitely visit when I crave Japanese food.

Starting from Markham, a leisurely 40-minute ride on the commuter train brings you into the heart of Toronto. Thus begins a day of urban exploration. 1. CN Tower (Canadian National Tower) A must-visit landmark in Toronto, the CN Tower stands tall and awe-inspiring. Snap a photo of its towering structure reaching into the sky. Ascend to the observation deck, where floor-to-ceiling glass windows offer panoramic views of the city. The transparent glass floor adds a thrilling touch to the experience. The old and new structures face each other, narrating the city’s architectural evolution. 3. Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada Located right next to the CN Tower, Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada is hard to miss with its eye-catching shark-shaped entrance. Pose for a family photo in front of the aquarium before diving into the mysteries of the underwater world after exploring the towering heights. 4. Downtown Financial District: Streets and Skyscrapers Stroll through Toronto’s downtown financial district, where glass skyscrapers densely line the streets. The dark grid-patterned office buildings and angular modern towers create a dynamic urban landscape. Encounter the Canadian bull sculpture and capture a moment in the bustling CBD. Wander through the alleys to experience the unique blend of Toronto’s old-town charm and modern vibrancy. Final Stop: Union Station End your day at Union Station, with its vintage grand arches and intricately carved ceiling panels. The station buzzes with travelers, and provincial flags hang along the corridors. Reflect on your fulfilling day in Toronto as you soak in the nostalgic atmosphere of this historic station.

A place I visit every summer. 📍 Frenchman's Bay, Pickering (Photos 1-4), a beach I’ve been to every summer for the past few years, about a forty-minute drive from Markham. Haven't been this year yet because there are so many other fun places to explore🍦 📍 Pringles Farm, Oshawa (Photos 5-8), personally, I think this is the most beautiful and photogenic farm around Toronto. Kids love it, and there’s everything for eating, drinking, and playing. I've already been three times this summer🍦 Just picked strawberries this weekend, highly recommended. 📍 Toogood Pond (Photos 9-11), a tree-lined path around a pond, right next to Unionville, perfect for a quiet summer afternoon stroll for two. 📍 Edwards Gardens (Photos 12-14), I think the most beautiful time is in May when the flowers are in full bloom, breathtakingly beautiful. Great for bringing food and having a picnic under a big shady tree🍔🥗🍎 📍 Lakeview Park, Oshawa (Photos 15-18), a lakeside park perfect for taking kids, with a splash pad, slides, swings... plus large picnic areas, and no worries about parking spots, highly recommended. Does anyone have any other fun places to recommend? . . . Always thinking of you
