A famous resort island.

Phuket Province is located in the southeast of the Andaman Sea in the Indian Ocean. It is the only island in Thailand that has been awarded provincial status. The environment on the island is pure and it is a famous resort island. Phuket Island covers an area of 576 square kilometers and has a population of 1.75 million (in 2004). It has a tropical monsoon climate. Phuket's main agricultural products are rubber, coconut, cashew nuts, and pineapple. In addition, there are shrimp farms and artificial pearl farms on the east and south coasts of Phuket. However, tourism is still Phuket's primary source of income. Phuket is connected to the Andaman coast of southern Thailand by a bridge.
