After the snow, Shichahai

Shichahai is a national 4A level tourist attraction, located in the central urban area of Xicheng District, Beijing, adjacent to the central axis of Beijing. The water area is 336,000 square meters, making it the largest and most well-preserved historic district in Beijing. It holds a unique position in the history of Beijing's urban planning and construction. Shichahai includes three water areas: Qianhai, Houhai, and Xihai (also known as Jishuitan) and the surrounding areas. Shichahai is also written as 'Shi Chahai', which means 'Ten Temples Sea', as there were originally ten Buddhist temples around it, hence the name. Since the Qing Dynasty, it has been a place for leisure and summer retreat, and is one of the famous scenic spots in Yanjing (old name for Beijing).
