The luxury Regina Experimental is located on a cliff on the area's coastal road. The hotel was converted from a historic building built in the Belle Époque style in 1907, with interior design by French designer Dorothy. Dorothée Meilichzon is in charge. The hotel's design was inspired by the Basque Country and the Art Deco movement of ocean liners, both known for their curving forms, long lines and maritime features. The original glass dome houses lounge areas and a central piano bar, while a wraparound corridor above leads to the hotel's 72 guest rooms. Design details within the rooms include navy stripes, Japanese grass mirror frames and the designer’s signature quirky headboards. Outdoors there is a swimming pool, orange grove and Phare golf course. But perhaps one of the biggest draws is Frenchie Biarritz, the latest outpost of Parisian chef Gregory Marchand—a restaurant themed after Basque cuisine that sources ingredients from across the region, including trout from the village of Banka and black pork from Gascony.
