The Christchurch Botanic Gardens

The Christchurch Botanic Gardens, located alongside the Avon River in New Zealand, span thirty hectares and are home to some of the finest plant species from around the world. The gardens were established on July 1863, and feature ten distinct subsidiary gardens. At the heart of the Botanic Gardens is the romantic and enchanting Rose Garden, which boasts over 250 varieties of fragrant and delicate roses, making this area perpetually vibrant and fragrant. The Herb Garden is filled with a variety of plants used for cooking and medicinal purposes. The New Zealand Garden showcases the charm of various native New Zealand plants. Additionally, there are seven greenhouses displaying a multitude of exotic plants, such as cacti, succulents, as well as tropical orchids and carnivorous plants. Throughout the year, the gardens offer a changing display of vegetation and horticultural landscapes.
