Dali 3 Days 2 Nights Travel Guide

🏠Accommodation: For the first 2 days, I booked a homestay outside of Dali Ancient Town, close to the North and West Gates, near March Street, less than a 10-minute walk to the ancient town. From what I observed, the development of homestays in Dali is really good, and many nearby homestays are beautifully decorated. On the last day, I stayed near the South Gate of the ancient town. The homestays I booked all had 5-star ratings, and overall, I was very satisfied. However, I preferred the first homestay, which was really beautiful and a particularly cozy courtyard. 🧵Travel Itinerary: 1️⃣Day One: Morning at Fengyangyi — Afternoon at Xizhou Ancient Town Fengyangyi is the filming location for 'Go to the Place with Wind', where the main attractions include the Windy Courtyard, the Thousand-Year Tea Horse Ancient Road. Just take a Didi ride there, which costs about 15 yuan. It's a small village with not much to see, so one hour is enough. Entrance to the Windy Courtyard requires a reservation and the purchase of a 188 yuan package. Nearby, there's a place to experience tie-dyeing, which is quite expensive but good for photos. (Tie-dyeing experience is quite expensive) Features: The place is small, and things are relatively cheaper compared to the ancient town and Xizhou. Here you can try local specialties like rushan (grilled cheese) and roasted fresh flower milk tea at reasonable prices. (Remember to bargain when shopping) Xizhou Ancient Town 🚌Transportation: Go to the parking lot near March Street and take a minibus (8 yuan/person) to Xizhou. Then spend three yuan to share a tricycle to the Justice Gate! (It's advisable to spend money when needed, as this stretch is quite long). The minibus back to the ancient town is at the Justice Gate, and I remember the last bus is at 8 pm. (It seems to be 9 pm, you can ask the driver when getting off) Xizhou Ancient Town is very commercialized, similar to Dali Ancient Town, and quite boring, with a tie-dye or shawl shop every few steps. The Corner Tower is crowded, so most people continue walking to Xizhou's wheat fields. I went during the off-season, and although not crowded, there were still quite a few people, making it very photogenic! Not far from the wheat fields is a tree 🌲 once visited by Yang Liping, which also attracts many visitors. If you have time after visiting Xizhou, you can take a tricycle directly to Haishu Park. I think Haishu Park is really beautiful, with the lake of Erhai being particularly blue and not many people around, making it great for photos 📸. In the evening, watching the golden rays of the sun on the mountains and feeling the 'sea' breeze while looking at the clouds ☁️ close to heaven is truly wonderful. 2️⃣Circum-Dali (Canger Avenue, Dali Longkan Wharf, Chongsheng Temple Three Pagodas, Stamping in the Ancient Town) It's a bit embarrassing to admit, but I went to the wrong location on Canger Avenue and didn't get the shot! (The navigation took me to a village) The Three Pagodas scenic area is quite expensive, so I just walked around outside the area, saw all three pagodas, and considered it a money-saver! Dali Longkan Wharf is way too crowded, with long lines at every tree, which wasn't a great experience. If you like collecting stamps, you can go to the post office near the Foreigners' Street in Dali Ancient Town! 3️⃣Caicun Wharf — Xingsheng Bridge — Kunming Station (Return Trip) At Caicun Wharf, you need to use a shared service. It's recommended to go further inside, where the lake water is particularly blue, and there's a large field of rapeseed flowers. Xingsheng Bridge 🌉 is a popular spot for wedding photos, but I feel that it's hard to get good shots with a phone.
