Meet the Mansion of the Prince of Dai.

The Mansion of the Prince of Dai was built by Zhu Gui, the 13th son of Zhu Yuanzhang, after he was reappointed as the Prince of Dai. It is located in Datong City, Shanxi Province. The mansion was built in the 25th year of the Hongwu era of the Ming Dynasty (1392) and completed in the 29th year of the Hongwu era (1396). In the 17th year of the Chongzhen era (1644), the last Prince of Dai, Zhu Chuanzhi, was arrested and the mansion was destroyed by a fire, with only the Nine Dragon Wall surviving. The Mansion of the Prince of Dai is one of the largest and most completely restored wooden ancient buildings in China, and is of great significance to the study of ancient Chinese architectural history.
