Yukon River, Canada

The Yukon River is one of the major river systems in North America, originating in the Yukon Territory of Canada. The Yukon River is 3,700 kilometers long and flows northward from its source through the Yukon-Kuskokwim alluvial fan into the Bering Sea. More than half of the river is located in the U.S. state of Alaska, while the rest is mostly located in the Yukon Territory, with a small portion in British Columbia. The Yukon River is the longest river in Alaska or the Yukon Territory, so it was the main transportation route for the Klondike Gold Rush from 1896 to 1903, and riverboats continued to ply the Yukon until the 1950s, when they were replaced by the Klondike Highway.
