Ruxi Village in Foshan is located at the southern foot of Xiqiao Mountain in Nanhai District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province, and is an ancient village with a history of over 800 years. The village covers an area of about 9.6 square kilometers and governs eight natural villages including Jiangbian, Shangru, Xiaru, Beiliang, Xincun, Jibian, and Chatan, comprising 21 villager groups with a registered population of about 7,000 people. The economy of Ruxi Village is primarily agricultural, with animal husbandry being particularly prominent. In recent years, the village has gradually focused on developing the private economy and attracting investment. The village's infrastructure is relatively complete, achieving the 'five connections' of water, electricity, roads, television, and telephone. However, some farmers still face difficulties with drinking water or water quality not meeting standards. In 2019, Ruxi Village was included in Nanhai District's boutique demonstration villages for rural revitalization and is the core area of the comprehensive pilot demonstration in Xiqiao countryside. In 2020, Ruxi Village was listed as a demonstration village for rural revitalization in Foshan City. Ruxi Village is famous for its long history and rich cultural heritage. Ancient wells, banyan trees, ancestral halls, old watchtowers, and bluestone paths are common sights, making it a typical representative of the Lingnan water towns. Ruxi Village is also an important sub-region of the eight regions of the Nanhai Land Art Festival in Guangdong, with the theme of protecting the ecology, utilizing resources, and creating a harmonious coexistence of living environment and industrial development.
