Ciyun Temple and Ruiguang Pagoda

Ciyun Temple and Ruiguang Pagoda are located in the north corner of Ruiguang Park in Fuchuan Yao Autonomous County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on the west bank of the Fujiang River. They were built in the 34th year of the Jiajing period of the Ming dynasty (1555), with a total area of about 7,700 square meters and a building area of about 660.7 square meters. The pagoda is a hollow seven-story brick pagoda with a regular hexagonal shape, 28 meters high, and a base 4.8 meters deep. Ciyun Temple consists of a front hall, a middle hall, a back hall, and wing rooms. It was originally a small temple, but in the 16th year of the Kangxi period of the Qing dynasty (1677), it was expanded into a Guanyin temple. In the 11th year of the Qianlong period (1746), the temple was completely renovated. In the 5th year of the Xianfeng period (1855), it was destroyed by war, but in the 11th year of the Tongzhi period (1872), it was rebuilt to its original appearance. Each hall is composed of a beam-lifting frame with six columns, joined by mortise and tenon joints. The back hall has a round moon gate that leads directly to Ruiguang Pagoda. In 2009, it was listed as a cultural relic protection unit by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
