Nan Fung Spinning Mill opened at the end of 2018. Its predecessor was the "Nan Fung Textile" textile mill built in 1954. It was founded by Chen Tinghua, the industry giant, "cotton yarn king" and founder of Nan Fung Group at that time. It was once the highest-output spinning mill in the city and witnessed the prosperity of Hong Kong's textile industry. Unfortunately, good times don’t last forever. Hong Kong’s light industry has been declining since the 1970s, and production lines have also moved northward. Nan Fung Textiles was in a state of emergency and turned from profit to loss. Factories 1 to 3 were demolished after the filming of the fire scene in "The 10,000 Fires" starring Lau Ching-wan in 1997, and were converted into a private building, Tsui Fung Terrace, in 2003; Factories 4 to 6 were converted into warehouses since 2008, and a four-year revitalization project was launched in 2014, marking the end of the glorious era of the textile industry💫 After revitalization, Nan Fung Spinning Mill has become a resource center for the Fashion and Textile Museum, open to the public.
