Shatin Cycling Tour

I believe everyone is familiar with Sha Tin District. If we were to list the biggest features of Sha Tin District, apart from the racecourse and Shing Mun River, I believe it would be the bicycle trails here. The cycling track network in Sha Tin District is believed to be the most well-developed and oldest in our city. People usually start from Tai Wai and head along the Shing Mun River towards Tai Po. But have you ever thought that there is actually another route to explore this area? If you look carefully, you will find that there are many other places worth exploring by bicycle, and the routes are less crowded. Whether you have been there before or not, you can try it out by following our route. Today's route is a full 30km long. If you start from New Town Plaza, there are two main routes to choose from. One is to go through Sha Tin Park to the Shing Mun River, and the other less known route is to go through Sha Tin Main Street to the bicycle path behind the Red Cross to Tai Wai. This is the starting point of our route. After passing the hidden path behind the Red Cross, the Cultural Museum is right in front of us. It can be said that there are places worth visiting everywhere in Sha Tin, and the Shing Mun River itself is the biggest attraction. Starting from Shing Mun River, it takes less than a few minutes to arrive at the first stop – Hong Kong Heritage Museum, which is hidden among the big trees. The Hong Kong Heritage Museum is the largest museum in Hong Kong, covering history, art and culture. The museum opened in 2000 and has hosted numerous fascinating exhibitions over the years. Currently, the famous martial arts novelist Jin Yong has a permanent exhibit in the Cultural Museum, and the exhibition "Martial Arts. Art. Life - Bruce Lee" about our country's martial arts superstar will be extended to 2026. If you are interested, you can stop and walk into the exhibition hall to commemorate the wonderful lives of these two giants of the era. Walking along the broad tree-lined avenue of Cuitian Village, we will arrive at the famous Che Kung Temple after turning a corner. The most crowded time for Che Kung Temple is the third day of the Lunar New Year, but the huge crowds may not make it possible to pray slowly and sincerely. Pick a leisurely weekend and ride your bike there. I believe it would be a good time. According to legend, Che Kung was the Grand Marshal of the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279 AD), and was named Grand Marshal for his contribution in quelling the rebellion in the south of the Yangtze River. Later, when Emperor Bing of Song fled to Hong Kong, Che Kung was among the people protecting him, but unfortunately he died of illness on the way. After his death, the villagers built the Che Kung Temple to worship his three generations of ancestors. The earliest history of Che Kung Temple can be traced back to more than 300 years ago. It is said that at that time, the plague was rampant in Sha Tin. Since Che Kung was deeply respected by the villagers, they believed that Che Kung's appearance had lifted the plague, so they built a temple to worship him. The Che Kung Temple that everyone visits now is the new temple built in 1994. The earliest Che Kung Temple is no longer open to the public. #LocalTour #AugustVlog #ConsumerVoucherStrategy #beaches
