Café Marlette

Has brunch killed off the great art of breakfasting? Finding a morning snack in Paris has become increasingly difficult, forcing many of us to neck an expresso and go hungry until noon. Fortunately, Café Marlette has arrived to set things straight. On offer at this addition to rue du Faubourg Poissonnière, is delicious coffee from true pioneers, Coutume, and a wide range of freshly made, often organic food. Think boiled eggs (another increasingly popular breakfast item in Paris) vegetable soup, avocado toast, gourmet salads, bread and jam, Nordic rillettes and even organic wine. Open from 6am to 6pm, they also do a brunch menu and sandwiches to go, such as the classic Prince de Paris ham and Comté. All dairy comes from the famous Fromagerie Beillevaire, suppliers to a handful of prestigious Paris establishments. Having finished your meal, feel free to stick around for tea because all Marlette’s homemade cakes are to be savoured. Two almond financiers and a gluten-free caramelised apple cake later, we can safely say that this airy spot has conquered breakfast and teatime treats.
