[Yakushima] See the Jomon Cedars...

World Natural Heritage Jomon Cedar 🌳✨ A 10-hour round trip trek from the Arakawa trailhead ⛰ First, we walk along the 8km long trolley road 🚶 Even though it was a flat road, walking up a gentle slope was harder than we imagined. . Our friends were lively at first, but gradually they started to talk less...lol Fortunately, the weather was good and the sunlight shone through the trees, making it very beautiful ☀️ The moss, unique to Yakushima, was shiny green and really cute ☺️ It was like the world of Princess Mononoke! After about 2 and a half hours, we arrived at the end of the trolley road, and this is where the real climbing begins! First, we climbed a steep slope to the first photo spot, Wilson Stump❤ Wilson Stump is a stump of a Yakusugi tree that is about 3000 years old, and it was cut down by order of Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1586. When you look up from a certain spot in the hollow, it looks like a heart, so it is a very popular photo spot, and many people were lined up at this time as well🎶 After enjoying some of the sights, we continued walking for another 2 hours and finally found Jomon Sugi! ! ! ! It is said to be the oldest cedar, estimated to be 7200 years old, and its appearance was spectacular👏🏻 Unfortunately, to prevent damage to the cedar, we had to view it from a deck a little away, but seeing a cedar that was dozens of times larger than the ones we usually see, made all the fatigue from the trekking up until then disappear! The lunch we ate outside after walking was also great💕 2 nights and 3 days still wasn't enough walking! ! Next time, I'll try climbing a mossy forest or mountain 🥰 #Kagoshima #Yakushima #Remote island trip #World Natural Heritage Site #Jomon Cedar #Trekking #Spring trip #Amazing nature #Remote island trip #Support tourism #Breathtaking views

Yakushima Island

Yakushima has nature that even people who think that Jomon Cedar is quite difficult and tough can experience. There are many places that are relatively easy to access, such as Shiratani Unsuikyo Gorge, which is said to be the model for the setting of Princess Mononoke, and the majestic Chihiro Falls. One of the charms of Yakushima is that you can do as you like according to your physical strength and length of stay. #Remote Island Trip #Amazing Views #Yakushima #Amazing Views

This photo was taken during a trek to Jomon Cedar, deep in Yakushima, a registered World Heritage Site. There isn't much elevation change to call it a trek, but since it's a long walk, we get ready before dawn and set off at sunrise. The rich and precious nature and various scenery along the way are thrilling. It's a very difficult journey, but it's worth the effort. #RemoteIslandTrip #AmazingView #Yakushima #AmazingView
