Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village

Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village is located in Nangui Village, Xijiang Town, Leishan County, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province. It is 36 kilometers away from Leishan County and 33 kilometers away from the prefectural capital of Qiandongnan. It consists of more than ten natural villages built along the mountains, connected in patches. Surrounded by mountains on all sides, the terraced fields stretch up to the sky following the mountain's contour, and the Baishui River runs through the village, dividing Xijiang Miao Village into two. The village features uniquely constructed wooden stilted buildings halfway up the mountain, with over a thousand households' stilted buildings following the undulating terrain. The main attractions of Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village include the Xijiang Miao Ethnic Museum, Drum Storage House, Living Road House, Wine Brewery, Embroidery Workshop, Batik Workshop, Silver Ornament Workshop, Viewing Platform, Gaga Ancient Path, and the Pastoral Sightseeing Area. Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village is an open-air museum that displays the epic of Miao nationality's development history, becoming a grandstand for viewing and studying Miao traditional culture. In 1982, Xijiang Miao Village was listed by the Guizhou Provincial People's Government as a tourist attraction featuring ethnic customs along the eastern route of Guizhou. In 1992, Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village was listed as a provincial-level cultural relics protection unit in Guizhou Province. In 2005, the stilted buildings of Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village were included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list. According to the official website of the Guizhou Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism in August 2022, Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village is a 4A-level tourist attraction.
